Katherine LaNasa Says She Was Haunted by Ex Dennis Hopper

Katherine LaNasa claims her ex-husband, Dennis Hopper, continued to appear to her even after his death in 2010. The pair divorced years earlier and had both moved on and remarried, but LaNasa told W magazine she firmly believes in ghosts and that Hopper’s ghost wouldn’t leave her alone for a long time. They married in 1989—LaNasa was 22 and Hopper was 53—had a son named Henry Lee Hopper, and divorced in 1992. Hopper later married Victoria Duffy in 1996 and was divorcing her at the time of his death. LaNasa explained that because she was the last wife he hadn’t been actively divorcing, there was a unique level of closeness during his final days, suggesting that kind of intimacy is best shared with a partner.

LaNasa described a few unsettling experiences with Hopper’s ghostly appearances. She explained that at first, they were frightening, recalling one instance where he appeared as he did at the Academy Awards – in a wheelchair and falling over, which deeply disturbed her. She also mentioned seeing him suddenly appear above her, seemingly drenched in sweat.

LaNasa established a personal limit with what seemed to be Hopper’s spirit, and surprisingly, he honored it – something he wasn’t known for when he was alive. She explained that after telling him she needed space, he stopped appearing, which left her feeling strange. The same day she shared this experience with a friend, she felt like she received a sign from Hopper that everything was okay. While taking an unusual route home, she stumbled upon an art gallery displaying his photographs, and in the back, there was a picture of him wearing a fedora and winking at the camera.
