The Title Update 3 (TU3) for Monster Hunter Wilds brought a lot of new content, with the Final Fantasy 14 collaboration being a major addition. But the most exciting part of the update is definitely the new monster, Omega Planetes. Typically, monsters in Monster Hunter World come with one armor set and a few weapons – one for each of the 14 weapon types.

With the Omega Planetes update, Capcom has included two complete armor sets inspired by the monster. In addition to these, there are three new weapons, each offering distinct abilities. Getting these new items won’t be easy, though – it will take a significant amount of time and effort to craft them. One of the most difficult materials to obtain for the new Omega gear is the Omega Axle.

Okay, so I was really surprised – the game doesn’t actually *tell* you everything about how to get the Omega Axle. It mentions that breaking Omega’s back will definitely get you the Axle, but honestly, that’s way harder to do than it sounds! Here’s everything I’ve figured out about the Omega Axle in Monster Hunter Wilds, and how to actually obtain it. It’s a bit of a grind, but totally worth it. Trust me on this one!

How To Obtain Omega Axle in Monster Hunter Wilds?

You can get most of the materials for making Omega gear by defeating enemies on Omega Planetes. However, Omega Lens, Omega Nodule, and Omega Axle are exceptions. These three items are rare drops. Specifically, there’s only a 3% chance to get carving reward Omega Nodule, while Omega Axle has an 11% drop rate.

However, the current amount is still rather small, particularly since you require 28 Omega Axles to create all of the weapons and armor sets. Fortunately, you can reliably obtain an Omega Axle by damaging the monster enough to break its back. But, because of the monster’s unusual body structure and skeletal system, breaking Omega’s back isn’t simple, even when using weapons like the Insect Glaive.

Fortunately, there’s a simple method to reliably cause a “back break” during each hunt. All you have to do is knock down Omega and strike the siren-like structure located on its back.

How To Break Omega Planetes’ Back in Monster Hunter Wilds?

To defeat Omega, you must knock it over. To do this, you first need to destroy its legs. While all of Omega’s legs are protected by armor, you can break through it by dealing enough damage. Once the leg armor is gone, Omega will fall, revealing its back and the siren. This is a great chance to inflict significant damage on the monster. Consider focusing your attacks on the legs to quickly expose its weakness.

Okay, so I’ve been learning how to fight Omega, and here’s what I’ve figured out. It’s important to remember that Omega’s back legs are really vulnerable to Slash damage, while the front legs take a lot more damage from Blunt attacks. Also, you can only knock Omega down a total of 4 times during the whole fight. But, if you’re careful about where you stand and attack, you can actually break the siren with just two topples – it’s totally doable!

You can obtain Omega Axle from both standard Omega Planetes and Savage Omega Planetes, but we suggest farming the regular version for the majority of your materials.
