KSI has announced he’s stepping back from making videos with the Sidemen after being with the group for over ten years, saying it was a very difficult decision.
On May 31st, a popular online creator – known for his work as a YouTuber, rapper, and boxer, as well as being a founding member of the Sidemen group – announced he was leaving the group in a video. He explained that he had been considering this decision for months.
For over 12 years, KSI has been a central member of the Sidemen, the popular group that started by making gaming videos and has become one of YouTube’s most successful creator collectives. He’s been alongside the other members – Miniminter, Zerkaa, TBJZL, Behzinga, Vikkstar123, and Wroetoshaw – throughout their growth.
In the video, KSI said his departure was not caused by drama behind the scenes.
“The truth is nothing bad has happened,” he said. “This decision is completely my own.”
KSI says he needs to fix work-life balance
KSI shared that he’s been stretched too thin lately, constantly pushing himself to do everything for everyone. He explained this fast pace made it difficult to prioritize his own well-being and spend quality time with his family, partner, and closest friends.
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and I’ve realized I need to make a change. The Sidemen deserve someone who can go all in, and honestly, that’s not where I’m at right now. It wouldn’t be fair to the other guys, to the fans, or even to myself if I kept going when I couldn’t give it my all.
Throughout the video, KSI expressed his gratitude to each of the Sidemen – Simon, Vik, Ethan, Harry, Tobi, and Josh – acknowledging their friendship and support over the years.
He also expressed gratitude to the entire production team – the camera operators, editors, those who created the thumbnails, sound designers, and the visual effects artists – for their hard work.
“Thank you all for the memories. Thank you boys for the friendship.”
KSI wrapped up the video by encouraging fans to keep supporting the rest of the Sidemen, promising they’ll continue to create amazing content, and adding that he’ll be watching it with them.
He explained that he needs to prioritize his own well-being right now. He wants to achieve a better work-life balance so he can focus on his health and spend more time with his family and partner.
