The highly anticipated collaboration between Pokémon and the Japanese airline ANA is becoming a reality. ANA has unveiled the designs for its special Pokémon-themed planes, Jet Red and Jet Green, which are scheduled to begin flying in 2026, marking Pokémon’s 30th anniversary.
ANA, the Japanese airline, revealed its partnership back in February to celebrate two milestones: the 30th anniversary of the original Pokémon Red & Green games (released in 1996) and ANA’s 40th anniversary of international flights.
ANA previously announced plans for three new aircraft decorated with Red, Green, and Blue themes, set to be released in 2026. Now, fans are getting their first look at the designs for the Red and Green planes.
Pokemon Red & Blue planes revealed
The Pokémon Jet Red is a Boeing 787-8 airplane with a unique paint job featuring Fire-type Pokémon starters like Charmander, Cyndaquil, Chimchar, Tepig, Scorbunny, and Fuecoco. It also includes Pombo, a newly introduced Pokémon from the upcoming game, Pokémon Waves.
The Jet Green Boeing 787-9 airplane is decorated with Pokemon that are Grass-type starters – that includes popular choices like Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko, and the newest addition from Pokemon Winds, Browt, alongside others like Turtwig, Snivy, Chespin, Rowlet, and Grookey, and Sprigatito.
A Pokémon collaboration wouldn’t be complete without Pikachu, and he’s a star on both airplane designs! You’ll be able to spot him whether you’re flying on one plane or the other.
Beyond the colorful designs on the planes themselves, each one will also have special, collectible items like cups, cocktail napkins, and headrest covers – all matching the plane’s color and the Pokémon that inspired it.
I’m so excited to hear that ANA is going to have special music on the flights! I’m really hoping they include the original Pokémon theme song, or even the awesome music from the Champion Cynthia battle in Diamond and Pearl – that would be amazing!
Although the routes for the Jet Green and Jet Blue planes haven’t been announced yet, All Nippon Airways (ANA) has confirmed the Jet Red plane will be used for flights within Japan. Beginning in July 2026, it will fly between Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and cities like Sapporo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okinawa, Kagoshima, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Ishigaki.
Okay, so the news just keeps getting better! Not only are there awesome game updates, but get this – they’re building a HUGE real-life Pokemon experience that’s supposed to open in 2027! Like, you’ll actually be in the Pokemon world! And that’s not all, they’re even building a Pokemon airport with a massive Pikachu statue and Pokemon-themed food. Seriously, it’s a dream come true for us fans!
