Marvel and DC releases are soon coming to two of the biggest streaming services out there, as Disney+ and HBO Max subscribers will be able to venture into those superhero universes in June. 2026 is a massive year for both Marvel and DC. The former brings back two of its biggest franchises, with new Avengers and Spider-Man movies on the MCU’s slate of projects.
Marvel had a strong year for its TV shows, thanks to seasons like Daredevil: Born Again and The Punisher: One Last Kill, with even more content planned. Meanwhile, DC is entering a new era under James Gunn, and this year will see the release of three projects – Supergirl, Lanterns, and Clayface – created before Gunn and his team took creative control, marking an important step for the DC Universe.
Although most of the attention is on the Marvel and DC movie and TV universes, they aren’t the only superhero stories coming out in 2026. Several other Marvel and DC projects that aren’t part of the main storylines will be released this year, and both HBO Max and Disney+ will be handling those releases next month.
Disney+ had a strong May with its Marvel content, and now it’s bringing back Iron Man in a new release. Over on HBO Max, fans can finally stream a DC movie, and the Superman TV series is returning with more episodes. All three of these upcoming projects are sure to be a hit!
3. Superman/Batman: Apocalypse – June 1 – HBO Max
Starting June 1st, fans can watch Batman and Superman team up in the animated movie Superman/Batman: Apocalypse on HBO Max. The 2010 film features the iconic voices of Kevin Conroy as Batman and Tim Daly as Superman, making its release perfectly timed to coincide with upcoming theatrical events.
Okay, so here’s the deal with Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. It feels less like a fully realized story and more like a setup for Supergirl. It’s a direct follow-up to Public Enemies, and a big part of the plot revolves around her arrival on Earth and the heroes helping her adjust. Honestly, a lot of the movie centers on Darkseid wanting her, too. With the new Supergirl film starring Milly Alcock hitting theaters soon, this animated movie feels like a bit of a primer – a way to get audiences familiar with the character before the live-action version arrives.
2. Marvel’s Iron Man And His Awesome Friends – June 12 – Disney+
On June 12th, Disney+ will release a new set of episodes for the animated Marvel series, Marvel’s Iron Man and his Awesome Friends. The show is set in the same world as the popular Disney+ series Spidey and his Amazing Friends, and follows the adventures of Tony Stark (Iron Man), Riri Williams (Ironheart), and Amadeus Cho (Iron Hulk).
Marvel’s Iron Man and his Awesome Friends features several other heroes and villains from all over the Marvel universe, like Thor, Loki, Vision, Black Panther, and more. Ultron, who returns in the MCU’s VisionQuest on October 14, is the main villain of the animated Iron Man series made for young viewers. The show is a good bet for the whole family, teaching kids about the Marvel universe.
1. My Adventures With Superman Season 3 – June 14 – HBO Max
Finally, out of all the Marvel and DC releases coming to Disney+ and HBO Max in June, My Adventures with Superman season 3 might be the most exciting. Starring The Boys‘ Jack Quaid as Superman, the animated DC series, which returns to HBO Max on June 14, will tackle the classic “Reign of the Supermen” storyline from DC Comics, albeit with a living Man of Steel.
Expect to see new characters like Superboy, played by the DC Tomorrowverse’s Superman actor, Darren Criss, as well as returning players, such as Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Supergirl, Lex Luthor, Slade Wilson, and many more. My Adventures with Superman season 3 is another exciting release right before Supergirl, and the vibrant, Dragon Ball Z-inspired animation helps it stand out amid HBO Max and Disney+’s other June 2026 Marvel and DC releases.
