Frank Grillo’s Forgotten 3-Part Sports Drama With 97% RT Audience Score Gets Reunion Tease From Star

Will they return? It’s very possible! The original stars of the popular sports drama are actively working to make it happen, and MMA fans are excited – though it’s a bit strange to think of those fans being ‘gleeful’ about anything.

Matt Lauria, known for his roles in Sheriff Country and Fire Country, recently discussed the possibility of a Kingdom reunion. He played Ryan Wheeler in the 2014 series, starring alongside Frank Grillo (Peacemaker, Tulsa King), Kiele Sanchez, Nick Jonas, and Jonathan Tucker.

Lauria was asked if he and his fellow cast members would be willing to reprise their roles for another season of a show he really enjoyed. He made it very clear that he’d enthusiastically participate if given the chance to continue Kingdom.

Sheriff Country Star Wants a Kingdom Reunion

Lauria told Us Weekly that all it would take for her to consider doing more of the show Kingdom is a simple phone call.

It’s official, which is great news for fans – the show has a remarkable 97% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, Lauria says he’d need time to get back in shape – he’s in his mid-40s now, and the role of Ryan Wheeler requires physical preparation, especially since it’s a story about MMA.

He said he needs six weeks to get back into shape and regain his abs. It’s been twelve years since they last did it – back in 2014 – and he’s older now, but he believes everyone else is still fit and active enough to make it happen quickly. He also mentioned running into Byron Balasco, a co-showrunner on Kingdom, who is now writing for one of the NCIS shows at CBS and Paramount.

We’ve been casually talking about getting back together, and so far, everyone seems on board. It was a really memorable and positive experience for all of us – a peak moment in our careers.

Frank Grillo Is Working on a Kingdom Reunion

Like Lauria, this person also expressed strong interest in a Kingdom reunion a few months ago and confirms they’ve already discussed it with others.

In September 2025, Grillo explained that he, Byron Balasco, and Jonathan Tucker had just finished a conference call. They were brainstorming ways to make something happen, and he wasn’t exaggerating when he said it was a real challenge.

The 60-year-old explained they’ve been brainstorming ways to revive the show, and even discussed the potential length of a fourth season of Kingdom. They mentioned they were hoping to create an eight-episode season and had already talked about it.

It seems very likely that the original cast of Kingdom will reunite soon, which is great news for fans and will give the actors time to prepare for filming.

Kingdom is currently streaming on Prime Video.
