AT&T temporarily switched its X profile picture to an image of streamer TheBurntPeanut after a popular post reached a certain number of likes. However, the company quickly changed it back to its standard logo due to negative reactions on the platform.
TheBurntPeanut is a popular streamer known within the “bungUlators” community and has become a well-known meme among its fans. Recently, AT&T shared an edited image of Peanut with their logo on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, further boosting his visibility.
AT&T announced on social media that they had been ‘claimed’ by a group calling themselves ‘Bungulators,’ and that the company now belonged to them. The post quickly went viral, racking up millions of views.
A temporary profile picture change was planned for week 4 of the Annihilator Cup, promised after a tweet received 10,000 likes. But AT&T quickly reverted to its original profile picture, leaving fans wondering why they stopped the promotion so soon.
Bungulators,
I have claimed AT&T and it is ours now.

TheBurntPeanut responds after AT&T removes profile picture
Once the alteration was undone, TheBurntPeanut discussed on his livestream why he thinks AT&T took down his profile picture on X.
He explained that people with a lot of money and influence – yacht owners, investors, and business leaders – were all commenting on the Twitter post. He added that he wasn’t upset by this, saying, ‘It’s their job to manage the company’s public image, and that’s what they were doing.’
He explained he would have acted similarly if he were AT&T, and suggested people should be angry at those who initially shared the image – specifically, wealthy individuals and those who often cause controversy on Twitter – as he believes they are responsible for it being removed.
TheBurntPeanut believes AT&T probably changed their profile picture due to negative reactions on X (formerly Twitter). He noted that many wealthy individuals were commenting on the post, and as a company, AT&T likely responded to that feedback. He felt he had no control over the situation.

Peanut described them as heartless, then playfully imagined a response from someone named Derek, saying they were incredibly upset and would complain to their mother about the phone company.
He claimed that none of the people commenting online even manage their own finances. He described them as people in their early forties, still living with their mothers, and focused on childish things – the kind of individuals you’d find eating dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets in their basements.
AT&T hasn’t said why they changed the profile picture back to normal, but the change itself has actually drawn even more attention to the streamer and the group, bungUlators, who took over the account. Many fans are playfully suggesting AT&T ended the joke too soon.
