Trader Joe’s recently released candy is causing some customers to experience digestive issues, leading employees to warn shoppers about its potential effects.
Trader Joe’s has a new treat: Sweet & Sour Gummy Worms! What makes them special is that they’re made with real fruit juice for both color and flavor, and they don’t contain any sugar. They’re being sold as a healthier take on classic gummy worms.
Okay, so these gummy worms are sweetened with allulose, monk fruit, and erythritol instead of sugar – they actually taste pretty similar! But, a lot of people are saying they’re getting a bit of a fiber boost from these ingredients, and… well, let’s just say it’s sending everyone running to the bathroom a little more often than usual. It’s a small price to pay for a healthier treat, I guess!
The ingredients explained
Okay, so as a gamer, I’m always looking for quick energy boosts, and I just read something kinda wild. Apparently, the experts say adults need between 25 and 38 grams of fiber each day. But get this – a serving of those new gummy worms from Trader Joe’s has 14 grams! That means if I grab just eight of those little guys, I’m already halfway to hitting my daily fiber goal. Seriously, that’s a pretty sweet deal…literally!
The organization recommends getting 14 grams of fiber for every 1,000 calories you eat. Since each gummy has only 35 calories, it shows just how much fiber you’d need to consume to meet that goal.

People are sharing their thoughts online, and some Reddit users are confused by the packaging, which doesn’t mention the product is high in fiber. One user commented that it seems misleading not to highlight the high fiber content on the label if the nutritional information is accurate.
A store employee shared that they’ve been advising customers about a potential issue with the product. They explained that some people might give it to children as a snack, and consuming a whole bag could lead to digestive problems, like an urgent need to use the restroom while at school, due to the high fiber content. Several customers appreciated the warning and decided not to purchase the item.
