Alabaster Dawn early access roadmap and 0.2.0 update details have been revealed

Radical Fish Games has shared its development plans for the action RPG Alabaster Dawn, including details about a new partnership and the features coming in the next update, version 0.2.0.

You can now play Alabaster Dawn on PC through Steam Early Access. The full game is still being developed for PC and will also be coming to some consoles that haven’t been announced yet. Radical Fish Games has shared details about the game’s future plans, including the roadmap, next update, and upcoming collaborations – you can find all of that below.

Hi everyone,

It’s been around two weeks since we launched Early Access with version 0.1.0, and the feedback – with about 1,500 reviews – has been fantastic! It’s been mostly very positive.

We’re so thankful for everyone who joined Early Access right away! The enthusiastic start gives us confidence that we can make the game everything we envision.

Thank you so much!

We also got a lot of feedback about bugs and suggestions for new features. We’ve hopefully fixed the most important problems by now, and we’re keeping track of all the feature requests to see which ones we can add to the game.

Now that we’ve reached this stage, we’re shifting our focus to growing the game with new features and content. Let’s discuss what that will look like!

Development Roadmap

It’s time to share our roadmap for the remaining development of Alabaster Dawn

We currently plan with 8 major updates until the game will reach its full release with version 1.0.

The upcoming updates will mainly add new things to do in the game – like new areas, dungeons, enemies, puzzles, and boss fights – giving you a lot more to explore. While we’ll be adding a little bit to the story, it won’t be a major expansion. After you finish the main story, the game will transition into a preview mode where you can continue playing new content without needing to follow a storyline. We plan to save any progress you make in this preview (like finding chests or solving puzzles) when we add the story later, but we recommend replaying the preview content once the story is available for the best experience. If you’re enjoying Alabaster Dawn and don’t mind replaying content, we’d love to hear your thoughts on everything available in the preview!

Future updates, specifically versions 0.5.0 and 0.8.0, will heavily emphasize the game’s story. These will include cutscenes and main quests for all areas and dungeons. If you’re primarily interested in the narrative, we suggest waiting for these updates to enjoy the story content as it’s meant to be experienced, with full context and a nearly complete storyline.

Receiving updates in this format is incredibly helpful for our storytelling process. It gives us more time to polish details and avoid major revisions later on. We also think delivering the story in larger sections will be more immersive and enjoyable for you, letting you get lost in the narrative for a longer stretch.

Please keep in mind that our plans are subject to change. We may adjust milestones or release smaller updates along the way. We’ll always give you advance notice of any changes!

Version 0.2.0 Milestone

Next up on the list after 0.1.0 would, by common logic, be 0.2.0!

The central focus of this update we will be an entirely new area, the swamp called Scala Moor, to the west of Sundalan.

Of course, as a new area, it will also contain various new enemies that have adapted to this wet environment, with their own unique attacks and behaviors.

As you make progress, you’ll unlock the Spear – or is it a Lance? Either way, Juno will get a new, long, pointy weapon! It’s her first melee weapon and uses the Pierce attack type.

We’re adding a new weapon soon, and you might be wondering if it comes with a new elemental power. The answer is yes! You’ll discover it in the new dungeon located in the Swamp region. This dungeon will feature fresh puzzles, enemies, and possibly even a challenging boss!

Beyond the new area, we’re also working to finish up quests and add more content to the existing zones. This includes adding quests to Sundalan and the Aurum Plains, and removing the signs marking unfinished content in other areas.

We’re planning to make the weapon skill trees more extensive, as players are currently able to complete them quite quickly. Future updates will also introduce bonus effects linked to your combo actions, offering more diverse ways to spend your skill points.

Another highly requested feature is the ability to mark places on the world map with markers. “Map Markers”, if you will. Those have been around in CrossCode and will make their return in a the upcoming version of Alabaster Dawn!

Additionally, there will also be a new Dojo feature which’ll allow players to try out combos in a safe environment while receiving informative data about their damage and such.\

We’re also continuing to expand the “Somu’s Dream” roguelite mode with more floors and enemies to challenge you with each run!

We’re currently planning to release the new version in August, which is about three months from now!

New Collaboration Approaches

Now to something else entirely: A new collaboration!

CrossCode x Alabaster Dawn x [redacted]

We are not revealing the third game just yet, but we are leaving you clues all over!

Here’s your clue for this message:
both our studios love worlds and stories that cut deep!

The reveal is coming soon. Until then, feel free to speculate!
Or remind us to focus on development (we do).

And that’s all for today!
We hope to post things more frequently from now on to keep you updated.

Until next time!
