Nine Dots Studio revealed that Outward 2 will be available in Early Access on PC (Steam, Epic, GOG) starting July 7th. They also released a new trailer demonstrating the game’s graphics both at their highest and lowest settings.

Nine Dots Studio has released details about the upcoming Early Access launch, including a trailer, PC specs, game description, and screenshots. You can find everything on their official website. Plus, a closed beta test starts on May 26th.

If you haven’t seen it yet, Nine Dots recently released a video showcasing Outward 2’s gameplay. The video covers key aspects of the game, including fighting, managing supplies, using magic, and gear.

Nine Dots Studio is thrilled to announce that Outward 2, their highly anticipated adventure RPG, will enter Early Access on July 7th, 2026. To mark the launch, they’ve released a gameplay trailer for PC players of all levels—whether you have a powerful gaming setup or a more basic one. Outward 2 will be available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG for Windows PC starting July 7th. Plus, players can get a sneak peek during the Closed Beta, beginning May 26th.

The trailer showed off the beautiful world of Aurai with all the graphics turned up, but Nine Dots knows players are eager to see how the game runs on lower-end hardware. That’s why, with help from performance expert Mr. Potato, they’ve created a demonstration of the game running on a specially built PC with these specifications:

  • Fryzen 5 CPU
  • 8 GB YAM
  • PLU-4072 Graphics

Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, the CEO and Creative Director of Nine Dots Studio, recently discussed how the upcoming Outward sequel will differ from the original game.

Outward 2 builds directly on the original Outward, and we’re aiming to improve everything players enjoyed. We want to reward curiosity and encourage thoughtful preparation for challenges, making players consider how they’d realistically respond to danger. To achieve this, we’re focusing on four key areas: more detailed character customization and development, a more compelling story, a richer and more vibrant game world, and improved combat.

In July, Outward 2 invites you to explore Aurai, a harsh and challenging world. You won’t be a chosen hero with special powers – you’re just a regular adventurer. Success depends on smart thinking and careful planning. To excel, you’ll need to be resourceful – like dropping your backpack before a fight to move faster, or setting traps to weaken enemies before attacking. Every choice has consequences, and even death isn’t the end. You’ll simply start again, recover your belongings, and continue your adventure with what you’ve learned.

Outward 2 Key Features

  • You begin as an ordinary person, not a legendary hero. Choose from three different starting situations and eleven unique backgrounds to define your character’s humble beginnings in this harsh world. Even if you’re defeated, your story doesn’t end—you’ll continue with the consequences of your failures.

  • The world of Aurai is a dynamic and changing place, with a complete yearly seasonal cycle. Its four regions each have unique environments, seasons, and ways to play the game.

  • In Outward 2, how you play truly shapes your character. Everything, from your armor and weapons to your strategies, impacts your abilities. The new Exercise system rewards your choices, letting your skills improve naturally as you gain experience. You can also find trainers across Aurai who can teach you valuable survival techniques – for a price.

  • The game features spellcasting through carefully performed rituals – for example, launching a fire stone to create a flaming barrier that boosts your abilities. Combat is challenging and strategic, with each weapon offering unique moves. The sequel expands on this with more tools, weapon combinations, and smoother, more responsive animations. These combat improvements are directly based on what players liked and wanted from the first game.

  • Your backpack is essential for survival, so use its space wisely. Carry supplies like food, potions, weapons, and camping equipment, but be selective about what you keep as you find more items. During combat, you might need to drop your pack to move and fight better. The new version of the game introduces a mule to help carry your things, but you’ll need to protect it, which could affect where you travel. Think carefully about every item you carry and every decision you make.

  • Aurai is a tough world, but it’s better with a friend! Outward 2 lets you team up locally with split-screen or play online in co-op. Working together lets you combine your skills, cover each other’s weaknesses, and find new ways to overcome the game’s challenges.
