Battlefield 6 Could Sell 5 Million Copies In Its First Week, Analysts Say

When Battlefield 6 launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 10, experts predict EA’s shooter game could sell an impressive five million copies in its first week. That’s a huge number, suggesting strong initial demand. Analysts are optimistic about the game’s potential.

I was listening to Christopher Dring’s podcast, *The Game Business Show*, the other day, and he was chatting with industry analyst Joost van Dreunen about the EA deal – you know, the massive $55 billion one. We got into talking about Battlefield 6, and honestly, the numbers are insane! They said the beta had around 25 million players, which is huge. Plus, it racked up 2.4 million Steam wishlists and 1.7 million preorders already. According to van Dreunen and the folks at Ampere Analysis in London, that points to Battlefield 6 potentially being a massive hit when it finally launches.

However, Battlefield 6 is generating a lot of buzz,” Dring noted. “Ampere predicts the game will sell five million copies in its initial week, and anticipation is increasing as the October 10 release date approaches. A successful launch is almost certain, and a strong start could positively impact sales of Call of Duty (which is launching more than a month later).

Just for comparison, data indicates that Battlefield 2024, released in 2021, sold 4.23 million copies during its initial week of sales.

As a fan, I’ve always seen Call of Duty and Battlefield as pretty different games. Call of Duty usually keeps things tighter, with smaller battles and a focus on gunfights right in your face. Battlefield, on the other hand, is famous for its huge maps and how it mixes together fighting on foot with vehicles like tanks and planes. Still, they both go after a lot of the same players, so it’s not surprising they’re constantly compared, especially around the fall when new games come out. I remember 2011 being a *huge* year – Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 both came out around the same time, and everyone was talking about which one was better!

The betas for Battlefield 6 in August ran surprisingly well – EA reported that many players were able to play the game even with lower-end PCs. With the full game launching soon, you can now download it in advance on PlayStation and Xbox.
