Popular streamer Asmongold, known for his unconventional and sometimes unhealthy habits, recently explained that his lifestyle is rooted in his upbringing.

Asmongold is famous for the condition of his house. Beyond his famously messy streaming room – which has become an internet joke – his home has had several unpleasant incidents, like the time he discovered a dead rat inside.

After seeing a video from MTashed where he was criticized for his lifestyle and labeled as mentally unwell, Asmongold shared details about his upbringing, explaining that his mother didn’t work and his father did his best to provide.

We didn’t have much growing up. My dad did what he could to keep the basics covered, but we were very poor. Our house was in terrible condition, with serious damage, but my mom refused to let anyone repair it because she feared it would be declared unsafe and we’d lose it. It felt like a really unlucky situation.

He explained that when he began his YouTube channel, he used the earnings to support her. He also couldn’t find a regular job because he dedicated most of his time to caring for her.

Once he started earning good money, he began putting it towards renovating the house and making things more comfortable for her. However, when she passed away, he stopped allowing workers inside, due to the ongoing health crisis and her weakened immune system.

Asmongold recently shared details about his childhood, explaining that he grew up in a financially difficult situation. His mother didn’t work, and while his father contributed some support to cover basic necessities like electricity, the family largely lived in poverty. He explained that choosing to avoid that risk with his mother’s life felt like the better, though still difficult, option. He wasn’t proud of his living conditions, but he also didn’t let them bother him. He acknowledged he’d made mistakes, but insisted every decision he made was based on what he believed was right at the time.

The streamer strongly criticized MTashed for saying he pitied Asmongold and wished he’d seek help, describing those comments as irritating, condescending, and unwelcome.

No matter how he lives, Twitch streamer Asmongold has embraced a deliberately unkempt image, leading to many popular viral moments. A prime example is when he jokingly said he was “evolving” after going three months without showering.
