Fans showed their love for a Steam game featuring anime-style characters by overwhelming its website with traffic, effectively causing it to crash.
Anime ‘waifus’ – the female characters fans become devoted to – are incredibly popular these days. You see them everywhere, from decorations on cars to specialized products like fishing rods, and even used to promote things like anime-themed drinks. Sometimes, their appeal is so strong it makes people question their spending habits – like when someone buys a full-size figure of a character!
It’s clear that anime girls are incredibly popular, so much so that they can even overwhelm websites. This recently happened to the Japanese company that made SiNiSistar 2, a 2D action game featuring a powerful nun who’s being compared to the popular character 2B from Nier Automata.
Site crashes thanks to thirsty fans
On May 16th, the game’s publisher – who must remain unnamed due to Google’s policies – announced that their website crashed because so many eager fans were trying to download the full, uncensored version of the game.
A representative announced on X that the recent launch of SiNiSistar 2 caused a temporary outage on their server (nicknamed ‘He Who Must Not Be Named’) due to a large increase in visitors. They’ve since fixed the issue and restored service, thanking everyone for their patience.

So, why is everyone suddenly hitting up this site? It’s because the Steam version is way more censored! Seriously, you’ve got a demon-slaying nun with a ton of adult themes, but Steam’s version is pretty tame compared to the updated one. Don’t get me wrong, I still wouldn’t let Grandma play it, but it’s a big difference.
Valve aimed for a broader audience with a family-friendly rating for their game. To satisfy players who wanted more mature content, they allowed fans to freely download and add it themselves from the official website. However, they were surprised by the huge number of players who took advantage of this option.
The website is now active, so you can download the patch if you wish. However, I didn’t suggest you do so, and you’re responsible for any choices you make!
As of writing, SiNiSistar 2 has a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam with 890 reviews. Many of these eloquently worded reviews praise the 2D action, the pixelated art style, and, of course, the ‘plot’ of said patch.
