Outward 2 Early Access Date Confirmed

Nine Dot Studios revealed that Outward 2 will enter early access soon, sharing a new trailer that demonstrated the game running on its lowest possible graphics settings – playfully referred to as ‘Potato’ mode.

The first Outward game had a bright, cartoon-like style, similar to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and wasn’t as dark and gritty as the Dark Souls games.

Beneath its familiar fantasy appearance, this game is a remarkably harsh and realistic action RPG. Players are constantly focused on survival, needing to manage everything from hunger and thirst to their carrying capacity, light, energy levels, and wounds. And the enemies? They just keep coming, offering no respite in combat.

Outward 2 has been tested by some players, and now it’s becoming available to a wider audience.

Nine Dot Studios just revealed that Outward 2 will enter early access on PC starting July 7, 2026. Interestingly, the trailer showcased the game with a deliberately simple, low-tech visual style.

Video game trailers for PC games typically showcase gameplay on powerful, top-of-the-line computers. However, with the rising cost of computer memory and other components, many gamers are choosing to spend less on upgrades. This means fewer people are willing to buy expensive, high-end PCs.

Okay, so the new Outward 2 trailer is hilarious! It’s narrated by Mr. Potato, and they’re actually showing the game running on the lowest possible settings – they’re calling them ‘Potato Settings’! Apparently, you only need a GeForce GTX 750 TI and 8GB of RAM to even run it on those settings, which is pretty wild. It’s a funny way to show how accessible the game can be, even if you don’t have a super powerful PC.

The new trailer for The Outward 2 takes a humorous approach, featuring Mr. Potato showcasing the game running with the absolute lowest graphics settings – aptly named ‘Potato Mode’ – available to players.

Outward 2 isn’t the prettiest game, especially with lower graphics settings, but it runs well. When you’re fighting off goblins trying to impale you, smooth gameplay is a lot more important than fancy visuals like ray tracing.
