Nintendo’s new mobile game turns your photos into WarioWare-style minigames

Nintendo recently revealed a new mobile game where you can use photos of your loved ones to create silly, fast-paced minigames. It feels a lot like the quirky WarioWare series!

Mobile games, even popular ones like those played in open-world cities similar to Grand Theft Auto or character-collecting games like Genshin Impact, are often most enjoyable when they don’t take themselves too seriously and embrace a bit of silliness.

Apps like iBeer, a popular fake beer app from 2008, and FaceApp, which lets you see what you’d look like older or even as a model, are perfect for a bit of lighthearted fun when you’re bored and on the move.

Nintendo is launching a new mobile game called Pictonico! It’s packed with 80 quick, quirky minigames in the style of WarioWare, and it looks wonderfully strange.

A familiar face!

Pictonico! turns photos of your friends and family into fun, bite-sized games you can play, according to its website.

In one game, players swipe up and down on their phone to feed their friend corn, and in another, they stretch a face to launch crabs into the air.

Okay, this game is seriously wild! There’s even a minigame where you literally unwrap a mummy… and it’s your friend! And get this – another one has you feeding a baby version of them a lollipop. I’m not kidding, it’s as bizarre and hilarious as it sounds!

It’s completely chaotic and just as hilariously enjoyable as WarioWare, the classic Nintendo game where you quickly complete silly challenges.

Similar to the WarioWare games, you’ll have to finish each Pictonico! minigame before time runs out, and they happen very fast. The game lets you try some minigames without paying, but to unlock all 80, you’ll need to buy extra content called ‘volumes’ – think of them like downloadable add-ons.

The price of optional minigame packs for Pictonico! hasn’t been announced yet, but the game itself will be available to download and play for free starting May 28, 2026.

You can sign up for the game now on both the App Store and Google Play! Adding it to your wishlist will ensure you’re ready to play when it launches with tons of fun minigames.

Pictonico! is just one of many surprisingly creative games that have caught attention this year. It gained popularity by transforming players’ unplayed Steam games into battles, and another unique title creates collectible Pokémon-style cards from random Wikipedia articles.
