For the first time ever, Scooby-Doo is being reimagined as an anime! Join Scooby and Shaggy as they travel across Japan and encounter spooky monsters along the way.
We definitely didn’t expect an anime version of Scooby-Doo, but it’s really happening! This isn’t a joke.
Yokoso Scooby-Doo! – meaning “Welcome, Scooby-Doo!” – follows Shaggy and Scooby as they journey across Japan, enjoying the local food. But their trip won’t be just about delicious ramen and sushi; they’ll also stumble upon a mystery!
I’m so excited for the new Scooby-Doo movie! It looks like Scooby and Shaggy are going to be facing off against a ton of yokai – those cool, spooky monsters from Japanese legends. And the best part? Frank Welker, the original voice of Fred, and Matthew Lillard, who played Shaggy in the live-action movies, are both coming back to voice their characters! It’s going to be awesome hearing them together again.
A Scooby-Doo! anime is in the works
We don’t have a release date yet, but we’ve learned some details about the story for the new anime.
Variety reports that the adventure starts when Shaggy and Scooby accidentally release a huge number of mythical creatures, causing chaos nationwide.
To protect Japan from scary yokai, Scooby and Shaggy join forces with Scooby’s uncle, Daisuke-Doo, a magical girl named Yume, and a tech whiz called Takumi.
As if the news couldn’t get any better, Ituro Kawasaki – the director behind shows like The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting and Arc the Lad – is directing this series! And get this – OLM, the studio famous for animating Pokemon, is handling the production. I’m seriously hyped about how this is all coming together!

You’ll be able to watch the new anime, Yokoso Scooby Doo!, on Tubi in North America and on Cartoon Network everywhere else. It’s joining popular anime like Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and Death Note – something I never expected to say!
Tubi’s content chief, Adam Lewinson, told Variety that ‘Yokoso Scooby-Doo!’ offers a fresh, new take on the classic Scooby-Doo franchise that fans will enjoy.
We’re reimagining Scooby and Shaggy’s adventures with a vibrant anime style and a Japanese setting, aiming to appeal to fans worldwide and create a classic, exciting mystery that everyone can enjoy.
