Xbox: “Price Increases Are Never Fun For Anybody”

Microsoft is increasing the cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and the company has explained its reasoning for the price increases.

In a conversation with The Verge, Microsoft’s director of gaming and platform communications, Dustin Blackwell, explained, “We realize that raising prices isn’t something anyone enjoys, so we’re working to offset that by including even more benefits in these subscription plans.”

As a fan, it’s really good to hear that the team isn’t taking the recent issues lightly. They’ve said they’re really listening to what players and the community are saying, and they’re trying to give us more of what we want. It’s encouraging to know our feedback is being heard!

Microsoft has enhanced Game Pass Ultimate by including perks like Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics, and they’ve also made Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming better. However, the monthly price is increasing from $20 to $30 – a 50% jump. Don’t pay $30/month for Game Pass Ultimate just yet, because many stores haven’t updated their prices yet. It’s best to wait for now.

So, the price of PC Game Pass is going up a bit – it’s going from $12 a month to $16.50. But honestly, I don’t mind *too* much because they’re adding a ton of games – around 50 more from Ubisoft! Plus, we’ll still get all of Microsoft’s new releases on day one, just like with Game Pass Ultimate, which is awesome. I think it’s a pretty good deal overall!

The increases to Game Pass subscriptions followed closely after Microsoft raised prices on Xbox consoles in the US for a second time.
