  • Megabonk Boss Fight Tips and Tricks

Every playthrough in Megabonk, a new game similar to 3D Vampire Survivor, feels unique. However, each time you start, the game immediately challenges you with the same task: locating the boss portal. The main issue? Figuring out where it actually is! It’s a simple goal, but can be surprisingly difficult: where the heck is the boss portal?

That’s a valid point, particularly because the game doesn’t offer any directional cues like arrows on the mini-map or screen. It’s also frustrating that the boss portal appears in a completely random location – sometimes I start right beside it, but other times it feels like finding it is nearly impossible.

With that in mind, here are a few useful hints to help you locate the boss portal in Megabonk. It might *seem* challenging and unpredictable, but I assure you it’s quite straightforward, particularly if you’ve developed a strong build with your tomes and weapons. It’s easier than you think! Finding the portal doesn’t have to be a struggle.

How To Find The Boss Portal In Megabonk

When you first start playing, the most important thing is to find wind gusts. They are usually white and appear similar to the image shown above, with an arrow and outline highlighting them.

As you approach the boss portal, you’ll notice the wind effects change color to red, as shown in the image below.

That’s everything! You don’t have to collect anything specific or change any settings. Just let the wind guide you, and you’ll discover the boss portal. Keep in mind that it appears in a random spot somewhere on the map.

It can even spawn next to where you begin your run!

If you happen upon the boss portal early in your run, don’t stop! Continue exploring to increase your character’s level and find better weapons and tomes.

Here, a useful mini-map feature helps you out. Once you find the boss portal in Megabonk, it will show up on your mini-map if you wander away from it.

This lets you get ready for the fight before you start battling the boss, and it’s important because the boss will be by far the hardest part of each attempt.

If you’ve activated Boss Curse shrines on your run, it will make the fight more difficult!

Megabonk Boss Fight Tips and Tricks

Activating the Boss Portal in Megabonk will, unsurprisingly, summon a boss.

Each boss you encounter is unique to the map you’re currently playing, and each has a different set of skills. For example, on the Forest map, Lil Bark will create thorn bushes that appear on you, dealing damage and launching you upwards.

Okay, so when I’m playing on the desert map, Lil’ Anubis has this attack where he shoots out a projectile that spins beams of light around. Honestly, dodging it is way easier than you’d think. The key is to just keep moving – seriously, don’t stand still! And don’t be scared to jump over the beams if you need to, that’ll save you from taking damage.

To get better at the game, try using items you find to help you. For instance, the stopwatch can actually pause time, completely freezing all enemies. This is a great opportunity to deal a lot of damage to bosses when they can’t fight back.

So, you’ve learned where to locate the boss portals in Megabonk and how to take down the bosses that appear from them. Time to get bonkin’!
