This page lists all monsters and poach-able items in Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles.
If you’re playing Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox, you might have seen the “Rare Wares” trophy/achievement. It requires you to “Have ten different items produced at a poacher’s den that cannot be purchased from outfitters.” You can start poaching monsters from chapter 3 onwards, using a Support ability learned by the Thief class. When a character with the Poach ability equipped delivers the final blow to a monster enemy, that monster will be successfully poached, and a carcass will be added to your inventory.
When you poach a monster, it will drop either a common item or a rare item. You’ll instantly know if a carcass will yield a rare item-look for the ✨ icon in the text box. Keep in mind that for one of the achievements, you need to collect ten unique items.
Poaching Monsters Made Easier With Monster Taming
The simplest way to gain monsters is to recruit them to your party, rather than trying to poach them from unexpected battles. You can do this using either the Orator’s Entice Active ability or the Orator’s Tame Support ability. After a monster joins your party, it will begin to lay eggs as time passes while Ramza travels the world map.
As a big fan, I’ve learned that each monster type actually has three different color variations! Like, you’ve got the regular Chocobos, but also Black Chocobos and Red Chocobos. It’s the same with Dragons – there are Red Dragons and Blue Dragons too. The cool thing is, any chocobo can breed with any other chocobo, and the same goes for dragons. So, if you manage to catch, say, a Black Chocobo, you can breed it and eventually get a Red Chocobo from an egg! Basically, if you catch just one monster, you can get all three versions just by breeding them – it’s awesome!
Okay, so once I’ve got a few monsters I’m hoping to poach, here’s what I do. First, I always save my game! Then, I jump into a random battle. I bring along the monsters I want to get stuff from, and definitely a unit that has the Poach ability. I use Poach on those monsters, and if I get the common or rare carcasses I’m after, I finish the battle and head to the poacher to collect my reward. But, if I don’t get what I want, I just flee the battle and try again – it’s a really quick way to farm!
In the table below, items that are both bolded and underlined will contribute to completing this achievement. When you submit these carcasses to the poacher, a special symbol will appear in the menu. Keep in mind that some of these ‘Rare Wares’ can actually be found in what might seem like ordinary carcasses.
