The release of Battlefield 6 is only the beginning. Details for Season 1 are emerging, with EA showcasing new maps, game modes, gameplay improvements, and much more designed to keep players hooked. Here’s a complete overview.
When Battlefield 6 launches on October 10th, players can jump right into a surprisingly detailed single-player campaign, a large number of multiplayer maps, and eventually, a Battle Royale mode. But that’s not all, according to EA – they’ve indicated this is just the start of things.
These days, many games designed for online multiplayer continue to receive updates and support for months, and sometimes even years, after they are first released. The next major installment in this incredibly popular first-person shooter series will be no exception.
EA has fully revealed what’s coming in Battlefield 6 Season 1, aiming to keep players engaged for a long time. Here’s everything you need to know, from when it starts to all the new content that’s on the way.
Battlefield 6 Season 1 start date
Battlefield 6 Season 1 begins on Tuesday, October 28th. We don’t have a specific start time yet, but we expect to hear more details soon, so keep checking back for updates.
It’s worth remembering, though, that while that date marks the beginning of Season 1, there are two other important dates to be aware of. Instead of releasing all the new content at once, the developers are gradually adding it over a period of three months.
Over time, you can look forward to new maps, weapons, temporary game modes, and other additions. Here’s a complete list detailing what’s coming:
- October 28, 2025 – Season 1 starts with the Rogue Ops update
- November 18, 2025 – California Resistance update
- December 9, 2025 – Winter Offensive update

Two new maps throughout Season 1
Two brand new maps are the main highlights of Season 1 and will significantly change the gameplay. First, on October 28th, we’re releasing Blackwell Fields, a large, expansive map based on a renovated American air force base. It’s designed to work with all game modes, from large-scale playlists to quick, fast-paced matches.
On November 18th, we’re releasing Eastwood, a new, expansive map created to be enjoyable for players of all types. It’s worth mentioning that this map won’t include jet vehicles. The setting returns to the United States, specifically the rolling hills of Southern California.
Finally, to help get everyone feeling festive, a familiar map will receive a visual update on December 9. The Empire State map will be covered in ice, introducing new “environmental threats”, according to a preview on the official blog.
Six new weapons in Season 1
As Season 1 continues, you’ll have access to a lot more weapons, including new assault rifles and pistols. A total of six different weapons are being added, and here’s a list of them:
- October 28 – Rogue Ops update
- SOR-300SC – Carbine
- GGH-22 – Sidearm
- Mini Scout – Sniper Rifle
- November 18 – California Resistance update
- DB-12 – Shotgun
- M357 Trait – Sidearm
- December 9 – Winter Offensive update
- Ice Climbing Axe – Melee Weapon
Three new modes in Season 1
Throughout Season 1, players can also improve and upgrade their equipment through a variety of new game modes.
On October 28th, Strikepoint arrives – a smaller-scale Battlefield mode built for 4v4 matches played in rounds. It bears a strong resemblance to the well-loved Search and Destroy mode from Call of Duty.
Coming up on November 18th, Sabotage will be added to the game modes. This mode is designed for 8-versus-8 battles and focuses on fast-paced action. Teams switch between attacking and defending, and the main objective is to destroy more targets than the opposing team.
Finally, on December 9th, a special limited-time mode called Ice Lock will be available. This mode centers around a Freeze ability, which appears to temporarily stop enemies – and possibly even vehicles – in their tracks. We’ll find out exactly how it works when it launches!
