Peak Players Are Passing Time At The Airport In Increasingly Elaborate Ways

Everyone dislikes waiting, particularly when they’re bored. The developers at Landfall Games, creators of Peak, felt the same way while working on the latest DillyDally update. This update introduces several activities to the lobby to help pass the time while players are waiting for matches, such as a basketball hoop, a photo booth, and chess pieces. It’s designed to make waiting more enjoyable.

Players immediately began moving the chess pieces, but they didn’t follow the standard rules of the game. They played in a more freeform way, diverging from the classic regulations.

We got bored

So, my friend and I were feeling a little restless after finishing a climb, and I had to share this on the Peak subreddit. We’d already played a bunch of chess, used up all the pieces – seriously, it was a queen and a few pawns way up near the rafters! We were just having some fun, and I called it ‘bing bong’ as a little joke. It was a funny sight, honestly! Check out the post here.

I was so excited about the update that dropped last week, and wow, social media exploded with pictures of chess pieces piled ridiculously high in the airport lobby over the weekend! It turns out that Peak’s physics system – you know, the one that sometimes makes climbing a little… unpredictable – was *perfect* for letting the scouts get up to some really fun, extra activities. It was hilarious to see!

The starting areas for Peak lobbies are located in airport waiting rooms. The game begins with a humorous scene of a plane crash on the loading screen, which sends you and your friends on an adventure to climb a mountain that’s created differently each time you play. Climbing is usually quite challenging, so it’s fitting that scouts would have some fun while waiting in the terminal.

Since its successful launch in June, Landfall Games and publisher Aggro Crab have been consistently updating Peak. In August, they added the Mesa, a new area featuring tornadoes, intense heat, and scorpions. The developers have also hinted at another upcoming biome, though specific details haven’t been revealed just yet.
