The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will bring together heroes from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even beyond. The first trailer showed the return of a character fans first met way back in Phase 2 of the MCU. Many are saying that Avengers: Doomsday has the most extensive and surprising cast of any Marvel film to date, and that’s saying something considering how large-scale some past Marvel movies have been.
The final two movies of the Infinity Saga, Infinity War and Endgame, brought together the original Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and many other heroes from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers: Doomsday is different because it introduces characters from the X-Men, originally from Fox’s films, by using the concept of the multiverse, and is expected to include other unexpected hero appearances.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga has introduced many new heroes quickly. The cast revealed for Avengers: Doomsday included several of them, but wasn’t complete, as Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, indicated. This was proven true when the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer showed Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers, and also revealed that Captain America has a child.
At CinemaCon, the team at ScreenRant got a first look at the full trailer for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. The trailer was packed with action, showing Steve Rogers meeting up with Thor and even wielding Mjolnir, Shang-Chi and Gambit battling it out, and Doctor Doom overpowering Thor. It also teased the return of a hero with ties to Ant-Man, played by Paul Rudd.
An Ant-Man Family Character Is Back In Avengers: Doomsday
The first trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday features a touching scene of Ant-Man kissing his daughter. Fans have followed Cassie Lang’s story since she first appeared as a child in 2015’s Ant-Man, during Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Abby Ryder Fortson originally played the role.
The role of Cassie Lang has been played by multiple actresses. Emma Fuhrmann stepped in for a scene in Avengers: Endgame showing Cassie reuniting with Scott after years apart. Later, Kathryn Newton, known from Supernatural, took on the role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where Cassie finally became a superhero with her own costume.
What Cassie Lang’s Avengers: Doomsday Return Means For The MCU Movie
It makes perfect sense that Cassie is appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, and it hints at a new team forming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In The Marvels, Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) started building a team and recruited Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), also mentioning Ant-Man’s daughter, Cassie, as a potential member.
In season one of Daredevil: Born Again, Kamala Khan’s father mentioned to Matt Murdock that his daughter was visiting friends in California. Considering Ant-Man and his family reside in San Francisco, this suggested his daughter, Cassie, might be joining the Young Avengers. If this hero appears in Avengers: Doomsday, it’s probable we’ll finally see the Young Avengers officially introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
