Godzilla is back in the spotlight with the Apple TV+ series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The show, which began streaming on February 27, 2026, has also unveiled the purpose behind the actions of Titan X.
Godzilla finally arrives in Monarch Season 2 to fight Titan X
In the eighth episode of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2, Godzilla plays a key role, directly joining the battle against Titan X. He’s drawn to Australia by a device created by Suzuki, which allows communication with Titans, and enters a conflict that has been developing throughout the season.
The meeting between Godzilla and Titan X isn’t a direct fight. Titan X is primarily concerned with guarding her egg and only responds when she has to. Things change when Apex Cybernetics steals the egg and tries to get away. Titan X immediately gives chase, with Godzilla right behind her.
With Godzilla now actively involved, his role is expected to continue in the following episodes.
Titan X’s true goal in Monarch revealed
Okay, so the newest episode of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters finally gives us some answers about Titanus X. It turns out this monster isn’t just rampaging randomly! We learn its trek toward Northern Australia isn’t about destruction, but a very specific destination: a hidden egg in the desert. It’s a clever reveal that adds a lot more depth to the creature’s motivations, and honestly, makes it a lot more compelling to watch.
This episode reveals that Titan X is a mother. Her nest was constructed with the aid of beetle-like creatures that remain linked to her. These creatures guard Titan X’s egg and, in return, Titan X protects them.
Things really kick into high gear when Kurt Russell’s Lee Shaw manages to lure Godzilla to the same spot as Kong. What follows is an absolutely massive brawl – easily the most spectacular fight sequence we’ve seen all year. But while these two titans are busy tearing each other apart, the sneaky folks at Apex Cybernetics use the distraction to make off with the egg of Titanus X. It’s a classic move – create a diversion, and snatch what you came for!
