Miraculous Ladybug Creator Updates Fans on Exciting New Projects After 10th Anniversary: ‘The Serious Stuff Has Finally Started’

Those who enjoy the series have just gotten exciting news about both its most eagerly awaited spinoff and the live-action version that everyone has been waiting for.

In an interview with French industry publication AlloCiné, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir creator and head writer Thomas Astruc shared exciting news about the future of the series. He announced that they are entering a new phase, with a sixth season currently being developed and the spin-off Stellar Force prepared to begin production. Astruc also hinted at another project in the works (translated from French), explaining, “We are finally achieving what I envisioned from the start. Ten years later, the real, impactful storytelling is beginning!”

Astruc also discussed the potential for a live-action version down the line. While it’s not currently in development, the idea hasn’t been abandoned. “The project is still happening! But it requires time and the right collaborators,” Astruc stated. “It’s not something you rush into. We’re focused on finishing Stellar Force, which we’ve been passionate about for years, and once that series is self-sufficient and achieves similar success to the original, we hope to dedicate ourselves completely to these new formats!”

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir first aired in 2015 and quickly became popular with young viewers eager for a fresh take on the superhero genre. The show centers around Marinette Dupain-Chang, a high school student and future fashion designer in Paris, who battles evil using amazing abilities given to her by her tiny, magical companion, Tikki. The series also includes many other people with superpowers, including Marinette’s classmate Adrien Agreste, who is also known as Cat Noir, and his evil father, Gabriel, who goes by the name Monarch. Since it began, the world of has expanded, with lots of other teenage superheroes joining Ladybug and Cat Noir along the way.

Starting September 27th, viewers can now enjoy almost all of the episodes thanks to a streaming library. And if that wasn’t enough good news, it was announced earlier this year that Season 7 is also being made. Speaking about the many new paths the show is taking, co-creator and Miraculous Corp co-founder Jeremy Zag said, “Ladybug and Cat Noir were created to inspire kids around the world to believe in themselves. 10 years later, that goal is still at the core of everything we do and we can’t wait to share what’s next with our fans.”

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir is currently available for streaming on Disney+.
