Man sued after blasting “wild ghost” noises at neighbors for hours

A man in China is facing a lawsuit from his neighbor because he played extremely loud, eerie noises through the walls for ten hours each day following an argument.

Dealing with neighbors can go one of two ways: you might get lucky and live near great people who are easy to get along with, or you might find yourself in long-term disagreements with unfriendly ones.

Two Chinese men, Lu and Li, got into a disagreement with their neighbor, Xie, and attempted to frighten him as a result.

According to the South China Morning Post, the two men spent over 10 hours each day making loud, spooky noises through the wall. They were trying to bother a neighbor named Xie, but the sounds ended up disturbing other people nearby as well.

Man takes neighbor to court over ghost noises

The South China Morning Post reports that another neighbor, Cui, who lives on a different floor, also heard the noise and complained to authorities.

Okay, so the noise complaints weren’t quite loud enough for the police to actually do anything, which is frustrating. But this guy, Cui, still took things way too far. He basically harassed Lu by going to his family’s home, pretending it was about the noise, just to make trouble for him and his family. It’s really awful!

Lu lost the court case brought by his neighbor and was legally required to stop playing spooky sounds. As a result, he also had to take down the speaker system he’d installed after their first disagreement.

According to the South China Morning Post, it’s unclear how long the strange noises were broadcast, but it may have continued for several weeks.

Although the recent reports of ghostly sounds are unusual, complaints about noisy gamers aren’t. Many players have disturbed their neighbors with loud shouting, sometimes leading to police involvement – and even concerned neighbors trying to force their way into apartments to investigate.

The editor for Saw X even fell victim to that.
