The recently announced timeline for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is important because it establishes a new role for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and confirms the New Avengers are operating in New York at the same time. Season 2 will take place while Wilson Fisk, as mayor, is aggressively taking control of New York City, implementing Martial Law, and using his Anti-Vigilante Task Force to crack down on perceived lawlessness with extreme force.
Marvel Studios has confirmed the timeline for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, placing it after Thunderbolts and before Wonder Man. According to showrunner Dario Scardapane, the new season begins six months after the first season’s events, still taking place in 2027, likely in the mid to late part of the year.

Big, important things have been happening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe lately, and many of them have taken place in New York City. Right now, Mayor Fisk and Matt Murdock are locked in a fierce battle for control of the city itself.
Here is a quick overview of the timeline placement of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2:
- Daredevil: Born Again S1
- Captain America: Brave New World
- Thunderbolts*
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps
- Daredevil: Born Again S2
- Wonder Man
Every Major Timeline Implication Tied to Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
After The Void’s attack on NYC

The Void’s attack on New York in Thunderbolts deeply impacted everyone in the city. It trapped people within a terrifying, shared mental space where they were forced to relive their most painful memories. This meant heroes like Matt Murdock and villains like Wilson Fisk were both confronted with their personal traumas, experiencing a cycle of unending regret and shame.
While the second season of Daredevil: Born Again hasn’t mentioned the attack by the Void yet, it’s likely the event deeply affected all the characters, even if they haven’t acknowledged it.
Although the Thunderbolts successfully defended against the Void, the attack left lasting consequences. This may explain why Mayor Fisk has become even more ruthless, as he potentially experienced a resurgence of traumatic memories from his abusive childhood during the conflict.
Val No Longer In Control Of The Thunderbolts

In the final moments of Thunderbolts, Yelena and her team surprised Valentina Allegra de Fontaine by taking control of the situation. Instead of handing her over to authorities, they used her as bargaining power, declaring, “We own you now.”
Now that the team is in charge of their dynamic, Val appears to be seeking revenge. She’s aligning herself with Mr. Charles to build a stronger connection with Mayor Fisk, essentially creating a safety net to prevent a significant failure.
There’s a theory that Mr. Charles and other top recruiters worldwide are secretly working for Val to gather people with special abilities, possibly to fight the New Avengers in the future.
New Avengers exist and are based in NYC

As a huge fan, I was so excited when Val revealed at the end of Thunderbolts that Yelena and her team are officially the New Avengers! It’s amazing to think they’re now a recognized force in the world, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
Some fans wonder why the New Avengers didn’t help Daredevil fight Mayor Fisk, especially if the events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 happen after Thunderbolts. It’s likely the New Avengers were busy handling other big problems while Daredevil dealt with Fisk on a more local scale.
It’s also possible the New Avengers simply chose to prioritize bigger dangers and didn’t want to get involved with Daredevil’s conflict, believing he was capable of dealing with Kingpin and his organization on his own.
Avengers Tower is now the Watch Tower

In Season 2, Episode 1 of Daredevil: Born Again, viewers briefly see the Avengers Tower. This appearance confirms that, at this point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the tower is now known as the Watch Tower.
Originally, the Watch Tower was updated for O.X.E., Val’s secret operations team. However, after the New Avengers changed their image, they took over the space as their headquarters.
While the New Avengers are out on missions, it’s possible someone – probably Bob – is staying behind at the Watch Tower. He might have even seen how harsh the Anti-Vigilante Task Force can be, but he’s forced to remain a silent observer.
Before DODC’s Prisoner Quota

The series Wonder Man revealed that the Department of Damage Control (DODC) had a limit on how many people with superpowers they could hold in custody. Because Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again takes place shortly before this limit was put in place, the events in New York during that season happened right before the DODC’s prisoner quota was established.
We haven’t found any direct link between the Department of Damage Control (DODC) and Kingpin’s Advanced Tech Task Force (AVTF), but it’s interesting how similar their activities are in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s possible the DODC learned about people with special abilities from the AVTF – Fisk, for example, knows Spider-Man is out there – which could explain why the DODC has such a strong presence in New York by the time of the events in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
