DC fans launch petition to rehire Greg Cipes as Beast Boy in Teen Titans Go

It has been reported that Greg Cipes, who gives voice to the character Beast Boy in Teen Titans Go!, alleges he was let go by Warner Bros. following his announcement of having Parkinson’s disease. In response, supporters of DC comics are rallying together with a petition demanding his reinstatement.

Introduced in 2013, the animated series centers around the Teen Titans superhero team from DC Comics: Beast Boy, Robin, Cyborg, Raven, and Starfire. Despite being primarily targeted at children, it offers a mix of humor and DC comic references that adults can appreciate as well.

Throughout the nine-season span of the show, Cipes lent his voice to Beast Boy. He also played this role in the 2003 Teen Titans series. However, recently, Cipes expressed to DC influencer Emmanuel Newsome that he believes he has been unfairly let go from his position.

In the comments below an Instagram post, Cipes expressed, “On Valentine’s Day, Warner Brothers terminated my employment – just after I announced my Parkinson’s diagnosis. It feels to me like I’ve died, but it’s only my fans who have the power to resurrect me.

Teen Titans Go! petition urges DC show to reinstate Greg Cipes as Beast Boy

In response to public outrage over the recent news, a petition on Change.org was started with the aim of getting Cipes re-appointed as Garfield Logan, also known as Beast Boy.

In keeping with my word, This petition is titled #savebeastboy and reinstate_greg.

For those who are curious about this context, “Greg” refers to Greg Cipes, the voice actor behind the character Beast Boy in Teen Titans Go!, and “TTG” stands for Teen Titans Go!

Newsome, who manages the social media accounts of Gunnverse, posted a tribute, “For over a decade, Greg Cipes, the inimitable voice actor behind Garfield Logan, has infused such depth of character and vitality into Beast Boy that he’s become truly irreplaceable.

His depiction perfectly embodied the spirit of Beast Boy, making him engaging, familiar, and indelibly etched in our minds. It feels inconsistent to replace him as the character while preserving the other original cast members.”

Or:

“He truly nailed the character of Beast Boy – fun, relatable, and unforgettable. It seems incongruous to switch him out from this role when the rest of the original actors remain.

Sam Register, president of WB Animation, unexpectedly ended Greg’s employment without a valid reason, causing confusion and distress among the fans.

It’s particularly distressing that the decision was made because Greg has consistently given his all to this cherished character, significantly boosting Warner Bros.’ success in the Teen Titans series.

The appeal encourages WB Animation and Sam Register to rethink their decision and consider bringing Cipes back. This move would help protect the rich legacy of a character who has brought comfort and joy to countless people.

In closing, Newshome encourages supporters to add their names to the petition. Currently, 187 confirmed individuals have already done so, and that figure is expected to grow in the upcoming days as more people learn about the issue.

This year, it was disclosed that Cipes received a diagnosis of young-onset Parkinson’s disease, a neurodegenerative condition that affects the nervous system, leading to symptoms such as tremors, rigidity, impaired balance, and difficulties with coordination.

According to a reliable insider, Deadline reported that the character Beast Boy from Teen Titans Go! is being recast because of artistic disagreements. It was also mentioned that Cipes was given an opportunity to take on another role within the superhero series instead.

As a passionate gamer, I’ve got to say that the gaming community is rallying together in support of our beloved industry veteran, Greg Cipes. Despite Warner Bros. not confirming the allegations against him, we gamers are sending out a loud and clear message: “We can’t let go of a legend like Greg! He’s more than just a voice actor to us – he’s a symbol of our shared love for gaming.” This is evident in the numerous signatures on the petition page that showcases our unwavering support for him.

One individual stated, “For years, I’ve been a fan of his voice acting work, from shows like Teen Titans, Ben 10: Alien Force, Young Justice, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012. In my opinion, he’s unbeatable. Let’s show our support using the hashtag #savebeastboy.”

A third person commented, ‘It’s not that simple to remove him.’ The show just wouldn’t feel right without him, and it’s safe to say its success and impact are largely due to the whole ensemble. He embodies Beast Boy so perfectly that no one else could fill his shoes – not even Greg himself.
