Mr. T, famous for his role in the 1980s television show The A-Team, was a hugely popular star. Recently, he reconnected with a child he met through the Make-A-Wish foundation over forty years ago.
Mr. T recently attended MEGACON in Orlando, Florida, where he reconnected with a fan he met through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) of the heartwarming reunion with Travis, a child he met through Make-A-Wish back in 1986. Mr. T expressed his joy, writing that meeting Travis after 40 years was the best part of the convention and a testament to the power of prayer.
Mr. T Was Meeting With Fans at MEGACON Orlando
Mr. T told the cancer survivor in the video that it meant a lot to him that the man specifically asked to meet him. He explained, ‘Of all people, you could have chosen anyone – Donald Duck, Superman, Arnold Schwarzenegger, even the Predator or Rocky – but you chose me. You asked for me.’
The fan then shared his story, explaining that he was diagnosed with cancer in 1984 when he was just five years old. The Make-A-Wish Foundation reached out and asked him what his greatest wish was. Being a big Mr. T fan, he wished to meet the actor. His wish came true when he flew to California to the set of The A-Team and had dinner with Mr. T.
“It was just great, man. I mean, it was very uplifting,” the fan said.
Mr. T Is an 80s Icon
Mr. T first became famous for playing the boxer Clubber Lang in the 1982 movie Rocky III, facing off against Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa. He quickly followed that success with his iconic role as B. A. Baracus in The A-Team, appearing in almost 100 episodes between 1983 and 1987. This popularity led to a breakfast cereal named after him and his own Saturday morning cartoon, Mister T. He also made several appearances with WWE, even headlining the very first WrestleMania event in 1985.
The actor, who is a devout Christian, has scaled back his acting work in recent years. His last movie appearance was providing voice work for the 2009 animated film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. He then hosted his own show, World’s Craziest Fools, on BBC Three from 2011 to 2013, a title inspired by his famous line, “I pity the fool.” In 2017, he also appeared on a reality dancing competition.
