Following an assault on streamer Emiru at last year’s TwitchCon, Twitch has announced significant updates to its safety rules and event procedures.
TwitchCon is a big event hosted by Twitch where popular streamers on the platform get together with their fans for meet-and-greets and fun activities. It’s a chance for the Twitch community to connect in person.
The event has faced some significant issues in previous years. Most notably, in 2025, streamer Emiru was physically assaulted by a fan who touched her inappropriately.
In 2024, streamer Nmplol experienced unwanted physical contact during a broadcast by another Kick streamer. Previously, in 2022, Kaitlyn ‘Amouranth’ Siragusa needed her security team to intervene due to multiple stalkers appearing at an event she was attending.
Following recent events, Twitch is implementing significant changes, starting at TwitchCon Rotterdam.
Twitch announces new security measures to make TwitchCon safer
Twitch announced several updates to TwitchCon on March 25th, focusing on improving safety and the overall experience for attendees.
Besides areas where filming isn’t permitted, visitors can now wear special lanyards to show they prefer not to be filmed.

Twitch advises streamers who are broadcasting in person to avoid interviewing or approaching anyone wearing a special lanyard, or anyone who specifically asks not to be filmed.
If a streamer breaks this rule, Twitch could temporarily stop them from streaming during TwitchCon, remove them from the event, or make any existing ban last longer.
Streamers holding meet and greets will now require fans to make reservations in advance; spontaneous visits will no longer be accepted.
Okay, so Twitch is totally revamping how Meet & Greets work. They heard our feedback about things being kinda chaotic, so they’re making it way smoother and safer for both us fans and the creators. Basically, they’re adding more staff to help things run smoothly, making sure there’s enough space between lines, and improving how the whole queue system works. They’re also making the entrances and exits way clearer, which is awesome. It sounds like they’re really trying to make the experience more comfortable for everyone, and honestly, that’s a huge win!
Twitch is boosting security at TwitchCon by adding more trained staff and streamlining how they handle and respond to incidents, aiming for faster response times.
It remains to be seen if these adjustments will encourage more streamers to participate in the 2026 event. Several prominent creators, including QTCinderella, didn’t attend TwitchCon 2025 because they were worried about safety and security.
QTCinderella brought up a tragic event in Japan, where a streamer was fatally stabbed in Tokyo.
