A character from the upcoming Thunderbolts or New Avengers teams made a quick, easy-to-miss appearance in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.
The new Marvel series is now available on Disney Plus and has been met with high praise, earning a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. TopMob called it the best Marvel TV season so far. The show features Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox, fighting back against Mayor Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), who now controls New York with a special task force designed to stop vigilantes.
Fans have been wondering how connected the show will be to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly after rumors circulated about Daredevil being cut from the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. Marvel has confirmed Jessica Jones (played by Krysten Ritter) will return, and there might be other surprise appearances throughout the season.
Okay, so I was watching the first episode of Born Again Season 2, and I totally almost missed this – there was a quick appearance by the Thunderbolts and New Avengers! It was a really subtle cameo, so a lot of people probably didn’t even catch it.
Valentina Allegra de Fontaine calls the Attorney General in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the character behind the Thunderbolts and New Avengers, does make a quick appearance in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. While Julia Louis-Dreyfus herself isn’t shown on screen in a traditional cameo, her character subtly influences events at the beginning of the episode.
The Attorney General, Steverud (played by Ty Jones), publicly confronted the Kingpin, demanding he scale back his Safer Streets program. But after a visit from the enigmatic Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard), Steverud received a phone call from someone called “Miss de Fontaine.” Following the call, he completely reversed his position, assuring the Kingpin that he had the full backing of the Attorney General’s office.
It seems De Fontaine is either working with Fisk, or she’s deeply involved in Charles’s activities with the weapons the CIA is attempting to smuggle through Freeport.
Considering her previous attempt to conceal the Sentry program using Yelena Belova and the Thunderbolts, and then trying to eliminate them all, it’s not unexpected that de Fontaine is behaving suspiciously.
Honestly, I was loving how she totally turned things around and introduced them as the New Avengers! It was such a cool moment, and the fact they’re even working out of the old Avengers Tower at the end? Amazing! It really makes you think – could we see Valentina or one of these new heroes pop up later this season? I’m hoping so!
