Digital Extremes released Warframe on Nintendo Switch today, along with a new update called The Shadowgrapher, which is available on all platforms.
Warframe has received its first big update of the year and is now available on Switch 2 as a separate app. You can download it from the Switch 2 eShop – it’s not available on the web eShop. The download size is 38.8GB, and players who log in before April 15th will receive a special bonus. Warframe is playable on Switch 2, PS5, PS4, Xbox, Switch, iOS, Android, and PC. Digital Extremes has released trailers detailing The Shadowgrapher Update and the Switch 2 launch, which you can find below.
Warframe, the popular free-to-play sci-fi action game, is now available on Nintendo Switch 2. To celebrate its launch and 13 years of community support with over 85 million players, a new major update called The Shadowgrapher is also being released today for free on all platforms.
Warframe on the new Nintendo Switch 2 will offer a significantly enhanced experience for both new and existing players, with faster performance, better graphics, quicker loading, and support for improved Joy-Con controls. Players can also continue their adventures and play with friends across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, mobile devices, and the original Nintendo Switch, thanks to cross-platform play and save functionality. Plus, if you log in to Warframe on a Nintendo Switch 2 before April 15th, you’ll receive the exclusive Ambimanus Pack, featuring a free Warfan weapon and other helpful items.
According to Creative Director Rebecca Ford, Warframe is now available on all major gaming platforms with complete cross-play and save functionality – a remarkable achievement for a game that’s been running for 13 years. The team is thrilled to have created a smooth experience for millions of players, allowing friends to connect and play together on mobile, consoles, and PC. Warframe’s core mission has always been to unite people and provide a welcoming community where players can enjoy themselves. And the team promises to continue supporting the game on future consoles as well.
Warframe is a fast-paced, action-packed game celebrated for its compelling stories, beautiful visuals, and extensive customization options. Over the past decade, it’s become incredibly popular, attracting over 85 million players on various gaming platforms. Starting as a simple open beta with limited content, Warframe has grown into a massive game featuring 20 planets, four huge open worlds, over 30 story-driven quests, and, with the latest update, a roster of 64 playable Warframes.
Follie, a new Warframe introduced in the Shadowgrapher update, has unique abilities inspired by Rorschach inkblots. The update also includes a new co-op game mode called Follie’s Hunt, where four players team up to survive against Follie, who hunts them across the map and adapts to their strategies. Beyond that, players can enjoy new cosmetic items to collect, improved social features, and various quality-of-life enhancements.
