A VTuber from Japan has started a paid subscription service called “Idol Girlfriend,” and people are already signing up.
Nana, the person behind the virtual girlfriend service, is a VTuber who acts like a close friend to her fans, rather than just a performer.
She wants to connect with her fans on a more personal level, aiming for a friendship rather than the usual artist-fan relationship, as she explains on her website.
We offer six different subscription levels, from a free option to a premium plan costing ¥100,000. The most expensive, the “Idol Girlfriend Plan,” is a significant $628 USD or £470 GBP each month.

The Idol Girlfriend Plan has limited availability – only two people can use it, and one spot is already filled. If you want to prove your dedication to Nana-chan, you’ll need to sign up quickly!
What does this virtual girlfriend service actually include? For your money, you’ll get a weekly one-hour private call – with a possible glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes – plus a private chat designed to feel like you’re talking to a real girlfriend. It also includes everything offered in the less expensive packages.
If the $628 subscription feels expensive, more affordable options are available. For example, the “Idol Friendship” plan costs $15 per month and includes a chance to chat with Nana for one minute at each monthly fan meetup.
If you choose the “Idol Best Friend” plan, you’ll get a 10-minute phone call each month for $70.
I’ve launched a fan club! 🩷 Members will get access to exclusive live streams monthly, opportunities for voice chats, and even the chance to exchange LINE contact information…!? 😳
⭐Space is limited, so this close connection will only be available to a select few⭐
I was able to start this fan club thanks to all your support. I promise it will be worth it!

Even the lowest paid subscription levels offer special content like personal posts, artwork, and exclusive updates you won’t find on their YouTube channel.
I really want to be an idol you feel connected to, like a friend! I’m working hard to build a close relationship with my fans, something beyond the usual idol-fan connection. I hope you’ll continue to support and watch over me, Nana, as I grow.
Nana has promised her supporters that all funds will be used to enhance her content, specifically by covering the costs of artwork, video creation, and necessary equipment.
It’s not unusual for fans to spend money on special things related to their interests. For example, one person once paid a streamer $5,000 to play a game, and another fan famously spent $88,000 on a Cheeto that looked like a Charizard Pokémon.
