He appeared in a few scenes and had just one line: after Rocket Raccoon fired a warning shot at the Eclector, he told Yondu, “Captain, the shot was non-damaging.”

Though Ineson had a small part in Guardians of the Galaxy, First Steps featured him in a much more significant role, in both importance and size. Michelle Yeoh had a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Aleta Ogord before playing Ying Nan in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Interestingly, even Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who worked with Ineson on First Steps, started with a smaller role before becoming a more prominent character.

The actors often start with smaller parts, which can be seen as auditions for bigger roles later on. Interestingly, the franchise has consistently used the same casting director, Sarah Halley Finn. This allows her to identify promising talent early and keep them in mind for major characters, making the MCU’s casting a long-term investment.
