The new movie, Project Hail Mary, is predicted to perform exceptionally well at the box office, potentially surpassing the earnings of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
Ryan Gosling plays the main character, Ryland Grace, in the movie Project Hail Mary, which is based on the popular novel by Andy Weir. The sci-fi adventure is expected to be a huge hit, and it cost a significant amount to make – a reported $248 million. To simply cover its costs, the movie will need to earn between $500 and $600 million when you factor in the roughly $248 million production budget and around $250 million for marketing.
According to Deadline, the new film Project Hail Mary from Amazon MGM Studio had a very strong opening weekend, bringing in $77.1 million. This nearly matches the record for an original movie (not part of an existing franchise or sequel), which was previously held by Oppenheimer at $82.4 million. Only two non-franchise, non-sequel films have ever opened with over $60 million: Oppenheimer and Jordan Peele’s Us, which earned $71 million.
