Good news for fans of Ice Age! Starting next month, all the movies in the popular animated series will be available in upgraded quality on Disney+.
Starting April 1st, Disney+ is launching a special section called “Stream” just for fans of the Ice Age movies. This is for Disney+ subscribers with a premium plan. It’s the first of three new themed sections coming in April. Once Upon a Time will be added on April 23rd, and a collection of classic animated films will arrive on April 29th, according to What’s On Disney Plus.
Streams are similar to live TV channels, but instead of choosing a specific show or movie, you tune into a stream that plays content all day and night. While it might seem random, each stream has a theme, so you quickly get an idea of what kind of content it features.
Disney+ offers a variety of curated channels, often called Streams. One popular option continuously plays episodes of a classic animated series. Others focus on specific types of content, like action movies or documentaries. There’s even a dedicated Stream called “Playtime” that features content just for kids.
I’ve noticed something really interesting happening with streaming services lately – they’re starting to feel a bit more like traditional TV! It’s not just Disney+ experimenting with live ‘Streams’ either. Even smaller platforms, like Dropout from CollegeHumor, are offering this kind of feature. It’s cool to be able to just tune in and have something playing, instead of always having to choose exactly what to watch.
Disney Is Gearing Up for Ice Age 6
With the release of the original Ice Age on Disney+, fans are getting excited for the sixth movie in the series. While plans for a sequel were first mentioned in 2016, it took nearly ten years to become a reality. Production finally began in 2024, after Disney took over the franchise. Ice Age: Boiling Point is scheduled to be released in theaters on February 5, 2027.
The main voice actors are returning for the new movie, including Ray Romano as Manny, John Leguizamo as Sid, Denis Leary as Diego, and Queen Latifah as Ellie. Simon Pegg will be back as Buck Wild, a character who first appeared in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and later starred in his own short film, The Adventures of Buck Wild.
Boiling Point aims to bring back a popular animated series that hasn’t had a new installment in almost ten years. Its success could lead to more films, but if it doesn’t do well, the franchise might disappear for good.
Disney+’s Ice Age Stream will launch on April 1.
