A woman in South Korea faces charges for spreading false rumors that popular food vlogger Tzuyang makes herself throw up after recording her videos.
Reports say that a former classmate of YouTuber Tzuyang – known only as “A” – claimed in an interview with another YouTube channel that Tzuyang gets rid of the food she eats after filming her videos.
She now faces defamation charges based on the country’s laws regarding information and communication.
Former classmate accused Korean YouTuber of vomiting after mukbang
This claim first surfaced in 2020, when someone named ‘A’ said they witnessed Tzuyang vomiting after eating a large pasta meal during a mukbang. However, the claim was proven false by investigators following a police complaint filed by Tzuyang’s team years ago.
Investigators discovered the person making the accusation had only met Tzuyang the day the video came out, not when it was originally recorded, which proved her story couldn’t be true. Additionally, witnesses didn’t back up her claims.

Prosecutors determined the statements were untrue and harmed Tzuyang’s reputation, so they filed charges. The case will likely be handled with a quick court process, and a fine of about 7 million Korean won (around $5,000) is expected.
Okay, so I stumbled across this mukbang creator, Tzuyang, from South Korea, and she’s HUGE – like, over 13 million subscribers on YouTube! Basically, she eats a ton of food while streaming, and I’m not talking normal portions. We’re talking seriously massive amounts – apparently, she can eat up to 30,000 calories in a single day! It’s wild to watch, honestly.
Her videos frequently cause strong reactions and arguments online, with people wondering how creators can handle eating such large amounts of food and expressing concern about the dangers, as some have even died while filming. The mukbang genre itself has been criticized, with some content creators accused of faking their eating or secretly throwing food away.
Authorities investigated but found no proof that Tzuyang was trying to purge or eliminate anything.
This creator has faced legal issues before. She previously sued a YouTuber nicknamed ‘foot-and-mouth disease’ – the same one who shared the story about the alleged vomiting incident – after he demanded and received millions of won from her. He eventually received a three-year prison sentence.
