As an eager fan, I’m thrilled to share that later this year, Octopath Traveler 0 will empower us by placing the reins of our destiny in our hands as we embark on a journey to rebuild our very own town, supported by a band of valiant heroes. However, it’s important to note that the scale of our burgeoning city may be influenced by the gaming system you choose for your adventure.
According to Square Enix (via Wario64), details about Octopath Traveler 0 have been disclosed, and they reveal that the number of buildings in a town is restricted for each gaming platform. The Nintendo Switch has the lowest capacity with only room for 250 buildings. Compared to this, both the PlayStation 4 and the next-generation consoles (Switch 2, if it exists) can accommodate 400 buildings. However, to enjoy a town with up to 500 buildings, you’ll need to play the game on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, or PC.

As a gaming enthusiast, I must admit that when it comes to visual prowess, the Switch tends to play catch-up in comparison to other consoles like the PS4, Xbox Series S, and even its potential successor, the Switch 2. The Switch runs at a resolution of 1280 x 720 with a maximum frame rate of 30 FPS, whereas these other consoles can reach up to 1920 x 1080 resolution.
The Xbox Series S takes things a step further by offering 120 FPS, while the PS4 and the potential Switch 2 are stuck at 60 FPS. The big leagues, the PS5 and Xbox Series X, blow everyone away with their 3840 x 2160 resolution and a blazing fast 120 FPS. And let’s not forget about the PC version, which gives players the freedom to customize their own resolution and frame rate.
As a game enthusiast who recently got a sneak peek at Octopath Traveler 0 during Gamescom, let me tell you, I was blown away! The game’s enhanced customization, bigger parties, and sprawling towns are just mind-blowing. Mark your calendars for December 4, that’s when this masterpiece will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and Switch Lite. Sadly, it seems like there won’t be an upgrade option for the Switch version if a Switch 2 ever comes out, but hey, we still have plenty to look forward to with this game!
