So, back in February 2024, Nobuo Uematsu – you know, the composer behind so many iconic game soundtracks – announced this really cool project called Merregnon: Heart of Ice. It’s not a typical game soundtrack though; he wrote these orchestral pieces specifically for live performances. It’s more than just a concert, he’s building a whole orchestral event around a story, which sounds amazing!
He’s announced a special recording made with the London Symphony Orchestra at the famous Abbey Road Studios. A short video with a preview of the new music is available, and it ends with the date March 20. We’re not sure if that’s the release date for the album, or when more details will be revealed. He’s also provided a link to a page where you can sign up for updates. This link is typically used for pre-orders and pre-saves of new albums, so that’s likely what will be available soon.
I’m so hyped for this new release! It was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios with the amazing London Symphony Orchestra. Seriously, you need to sign up through the link in my bio to be the first to get all the details – you won’t want to miss this!

If you didn’t see the first announcement for Merregnon: Heart of Ice, it features performances of music from the first half of Uematsu’s game scores, including tracks from Fantasian and Lost Odyssey. The second half of the album will tell the ‘Heart of Ice’ story, and Alicia Vikander will be narrating it.
