Fans finally have a sneak peek at the new Shaun the Sheep movie, Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom, thanks to GKids, Studio Canal, and Aardman Animations. The movie’s release date has also been announced.
GKids has announced that Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom will be released in US and UK theaters on September 18, 2026, with Sky UK handling the UK distribution. The movie follows the residents of Mossy Bottom as they get ready for Halloween, but their plans are disrupted when Farmer clumsily destroys their pumpkin patch.

When the Farmer accidentally destroys the pumpkin patch, Shaun tries to fix it with a crazy plan, but things quickly get out of hand. The movie promises a fun, family adventure, hinting that with the Farmer gone and a mysterious creature loose, chaos is sure to follow!
As a huge fan of Aardman, I was really excited to hear about The Beast of Mossy Bottom. It’s special because it’s the first feature film directed by Steve Cox and Matthew Walker, who’ve both been working at Aardman for years. The story comes from the mind of Nick Park, of course, and Mark Burton wrote the screenplay. It’s great to see Giles Pilbrow involved too – he did fantastic work on Shaun the Sheep: Adventures from Mossy Bottom and The Flight Before Christmas, and Steve Cox actually directed that Christmas special as well. It feels like a really solid team bringing this new adventure to life!
Justin Fletcher will once again voice Shaun and his flock in the new film, with John Sparkes and Kate Harbour also providing voices. The Beast of Mossy Bottom is the third Shaun the Sheep movie, continuing the story after the 2015 film Shaun the Sheep Movie and a previous installment that was released on Netflix instead of in U.S. theaters.
In 2026, Aardman Animations will be celebrating its history and artistry with a series of special events. Their new film, The Beast of Mossy Bottom, continues the studio’s tradition of charming, handcrafted stop-motion animation, funny stories, and entertainment for the whole family.
The Beast of Mossy Bottom Brings ‘Thrills, Spills & Surprises’
The new Shaun the Sheep movie was previewed in May 2025, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come. According to Sarah Cox, Chief Creative Director at Aardman, the film is a family-friendly Halloween adventure featuring the beloved character Shaun the Sheep. The press release promises smashed pumpkins, wacky science, and a mysterious creature causing trouble in Mossy Bottom, all delivered with the series’ signature humor.
StudioCanal, the company distributing the new Shaun the Sheep movie everywhere except the UK, hinted at a Halloween theme. They shared that this, their third film in the series, will feature spooky fun, exciting moments, surprises, a bit of science, and both familiar and new characters. They’re proud to continue building Shaun the Sheep and his flock’s success on the big screen.
