A Japanese firm has trademarked the term “XTuber” to describe a new type of online creator, and they’re currently looking for people to join this emerging field.
On March 16, 2026, PANDORA, a Japanese company, revealed they had trademarked the term “XTuber,” pronounced “CrossTuber” in Japan.
This is like VTubing, but with a new option. Creators can stream using a virtual avatar, or they can choose to show their real face on camera.
Many VTubers have been experimenting with this for a while now, but this is the first time it’s had an official name – and that name is now trademarked.

The company announced this and also shared the story behind the trademark. They explained that while virtual performers are becoming increasingly popular, there aren’t yet clear rules or definitions for creators who work in both virtual and real life.

XTubers are content creators who seamlessly switch between showing their real selves and using virtual avatars, combining both approaches in their streams and videos.
The company’s vision is to guide as many talents as possible into becoming XTubers worldwide.
To make it easier for people to start streaming, they’ve created Project YOHANE, which tackles common hurdles like the expense, technical know-how, and initial setup required.
Not only that, it also offers support for monetization through streaming.
This program welcomes everyone, even those with no prior experience. Auditions will assess your enthusiasm and how well you might fit with our various activities.
The company says the hiring process starts with reviewing applications, and then qualified candidates will be invited for an online interview. Spots are limited, and applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
No previous streaming experience is required to apply. However, applicants must be 18 or older. The opportunity is open to everyone, regardless of gender, and you don’t need to appear on camera.
