Twitch is introducing a new feature called ‘Stream Rewind’ that lets viewers go back and rewatch parts of live streams they might have missed.
Twitch is a hugely popular website where people broadcast live videos. Many well-known personalities have become famous by creating content on the platform.
I’ve been watching this platform evolve for ages, and they’ve added so many cool things! Now I can easily clip my favorite moments from streams, and it’s super easy to support my favorite streamers with Bits and subs. It’s awesome how they keep making things better for both of us – the viewers and the creators.
One key feature that was lacking was the ability to rewind live broadcasts. If you were watching something live, you couldn’t easily go back to see a missed part or replay a funny moment. Instead, you had to either create a clip or wait to watch the recording later.
Okay, so this is awesome! As a Twitch viewer, I’m super excited that I can now actually pause and rewind eligible streams! ⏪ It means I’ll never miss a funny moment or important part of a stream again, even if I have to step away for a sec. This perk is for Turbo and Channel subscribers, so a big thanks to Twitch for adding this! If you want to know more details, they’ve got a help article with all the info. 📚

Twitch introduces long-awaited rewind option for streams
Twitch announced on September 25, 2025, that viewers will soon be able to rewind live streams. This new feature, called ‘Stream Rewind,’ lets you jump back and rewatch parts of a stream while it’s still happening, as explained in a Twitch help article.
Viewers have full control over the live stream – they can pause, rewind, or fast-forward whenever they like, and easily return to the live action with a single click. Plus, the live chat keeps running even when the video is paused or rewound, so you won’t miss anything important.
Okay, so this cool Stream Rewind feature? It’s not automatically on for everyone. Broadcasters actually have to turn it on themselves for their viewers to use it. Plus, right now, only Affiliates and Partners can even *use* it. And here’s the bummer: it only works for viewers who are subscribed to the streamer’s channel, or those who are Turbo subscribers – and only on the web version, sadly. Mobile users are out of luck for now!
In a recent stream on September 24th, Dan Clancy explained that Stream Rewind is initially only available to subscribers. This limitation is in place while Twitch works on a solution to stop people from using the feature to skip ads.
We’re starting with subscribers to both channel and Turbo tiers,” Clancy said. “We’re aiming to roll it out to everyone eventually, but we need to ensure ads continue to function correctly, even with ad blockers. It’s important that this feature doesn’t allow people to bypass ads, as that impacts the revenue of our streamers, and we want to make sure everything works smoothly for them. That just requires some extra development work.
Twitch now offers a feature similar to YouTube’s, letting viewers rewind live streams if the streamer has it turned on – and best of all, it’s free for viewers to use.
Twitch first revealed this feature in June, and after more than three months of development, it’s now available.
