Compile Heart has revealed more about their new RPG, Villion:Code. Building on last month’s information about how battles work, they’ve now detailed two new features: Genome Editing, which lets you give your party members helpful boosts, and Research, which allows you to learn more about the game’s story and world as you play.
A playable demo of the game Villion:Code will be available at Happinet Game Fes 2026, held at Belle Salle Akihabara on March 28th and 29th. Attendees will also get a first look at demos for other games like Brigandine Abyss, Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered, and the newest Neptunia title.
We’ve translated the latest details about the game’s features, which you can find below. You can also listen to a couple of music samples created by Tsukasa Masuko at the end of this page. Villion:Code will launch in Japan on June 25th for PlayStation 4 & 5, and Nintendo Switch. Currently, Idea Factory hasn’t announced plans to release an English version of the game.
Genome Editing

Players in the Adhvan Rebs group will discover that enemy GEMs become more powerful by absorbing other GEMs, essentially improving their own genetic makeup. After defeating GEMs within dungeons, the group can collect genome ampoules. These ampoules will be sorted by the GEM’s strength and elemental type.
You can use Chloe’s “Everyone’s Genome” app to edit genomes. Within the “Genome Combine” feature, you can combine collected ampoules to create genome cubes, which give you various benefits. You can also customize these cubes by adding special items, such as research papers or lucky charms.
After you’ve progressed far enough in the story, you can give buff cubes to your party members through the Genome Injection menu. Each member can equip up to eight cubes at a time.

The main character can turn on the quantum AI, called Alaya, to investigate and learn about the world around them. By simply clicking on things, Alaya will offer detailed information on almost anything – from school records to the backgrounds of other characters. However, privacy settings might limit access to some personal information.
I’ve found that the Research menu lets me chat with characters to dig up info, which is super helpful. And if I’m getting lost in all the complicated jargon, the Alaya AI is there to explain things in a way I actually understand. It’s like having a built-in glossary!
