Following the PlayStation State of Play, Nintendo surprised everyone by announcing a new Fire Emblem game for mobile. Called Fire Emblem Shadows, it uniquely combines strategic gameplay with elements of social deduction.
In Fire Emblem Shadows, you lead a group of warriors and make choices that align with either Light or Shadow. As you explore dungeons, you’ll need to uncover a hidden traitor within your team and take action before they can cause trouble.
Okay, so the battles aren’t *exactly* like a typical Fire Emblem game. It’s not turn-based; everything happens in real-time. But it’s not total chaos either! I can tell my characters where to focus their attention on the battlefield, marking specific areas for them to handle. It’s a cool mix of strategy and action, letting me guide things without pausing the fight every second.
September has already brought two big Fire Emblem announcements from Nintendo. The company recently revealed the next game in the series, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, at the start of the month during a Nintendo Direct presentation.
Fire Emblem Shadows is available now on both iOS and Android devices.
