Saturday Night Live finally returned after a long hiatus, and it did not disappoint.
I was so glad Saturday Night Live was back after taking a break for the Olympics, and this episode did NOT disappoint! Connor Storrie from Heated Rivalry was a total standout – seriously, he was hilarious and everyone loved him. Plus, his co-star Hudson Williams showed up for a really fun sketch that was filmed right at Rockefeller Center’s ice rink! Here are some of my favorite moments from the show:
Connor Storrie’s SNL Monologue
Bowen Yang gave one of the most endearing opening monologues in recent Saturday Night Live history, sharing how his role on Heated Rivalry impacted his life. He talked about his Texas upbringing and how he’d been imagining a moment like this since he was a kid, playfully admitting to some diva-like tendencies. He was also joined on stage by professional hockey players Jack and Quinn Hughes, along with Hilary Knight and Megan Keller.
Hudson Williams Joins SNL Cast At Rockefeller Center
Tommy Brennan’s proposal to Veronika Slowikowska didn’t go as planned during a sketch at Rockefeller Center. After she turned him down, a group of enthusiastic skaters – Storrie, Ben Marshall, and Mikey Day – unexpectedly crashed the scene, distracting him. The situation became even more chaotic when Williams appeared.
SNL’s Weekend Update Delivered
The latest Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live, featuring Colin Jost and Michael Che, was a mixed bag, leaning more towards negative news. Despite the gloomy content, the segment was well-crafted. Jost also debuted a new bit called “Hear Me Out,” where he attempted to explain Stephen Hawking’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein.
This Week’s SNL Flops
This week’s Saturday Night Live was excellent overall, with only one sketch that didn’t quite hit the mark. It wasn’t bad, though – just not as strong as the rest of the show.
SNL’s Donald Trump Cold Open
Honestly, I wasn’t shocked that Saturday Night Live started with a bit about Donald Trump – James Austin Johnson does a pretty good impression, by the way – and the recent events with Iran. But it felt…predictable. They’ve been doing this same kind of presidential takedown for years now, and it just didn’t feel fresh this week. It was the usual format, and I was hoping for something a little more inventive.
Saturday Night Live airs new episodes Saturdays at 11:30 PM ET and 8:30 PM PT on NBC.
