Laps Games has announced that Valorborn will launch on April 15 in Early Access on Steam.
Valorborn is an open-world RPG where the game world feels alive and continues to evolve even when you’re not playing. The developers at Laps Games say that villagers go about their daily lives, different groups fight for control, and threats move around the land, all regardless of your actions. The game will be available in Early Access on Steam for at least a year, and during that time the developers plan to improve it based on player feedback, add more areas to explore, and introduce new stories, characters, and locations.

Laps Games’ open-world RPG, Valorborn, will be available on PC through Steam Early Access starting Wednesday, April 15th. This news was announced today at IGN Fan Fest.
Valorborn is a sandbox RPG set in a detailed, living medieval world. The game world operates realistically, with villagers going about their daily lives, factions vying for control, and threats moving across the landscape – all happening even when you’re not playing. Unlike many RPGs, you can enter every building, cave, and location you see; there are no blocked-off areas or fake entrances.
Forge your own destiny and create a unique story. You can become a thief, surviving by stealing and selling goods. Or, become a hunter, living off the land by tracking animals and trading their pelts. Perhaps you’d prefer life as a sellsword, traveling and completing contracts to protect people from dangers in the wilds and settlements. Play solo, or team up with others – every choice you make will shape the world and your adventure.
Valorborn’s story starts after the collapse of the Allarion Empire, which once brought many different peoples and groups together. Allarion was a thriving society powered by magic, making life easier in countless ways. However, overuse of this magic slowly began to harm its people, ultimately causing a devastating event that destroyed the empire.
Okay, so Early Access is kicking off in Thareon, which is a kingdom that sprung up after the old world of Allarion fell apart. But it’s a pretty intense place – they’ve got this whole thing about magic being evil. Seriously, they actively hunt down anyone who uses it and destroy anything even related to magic. It makes for a really tough world where you’re constantly looking over your shoulder, and it’s all about control and just trying to survive.
In Valorborn, danger is always present, and characters can be permanently lost. However, the game is built to make taking risks worthwhile and ensure players still have fun. Losing a character isn’t a failure, but an opportunity to learn, try new things, and build a unique story through each playthrough.
The complete game will feature a larger world with new kingdoms, giving players more choices at the start and greater freedom to create unique adventures. When it officially launches, you’ll be able to select your character’s race, where they begin their journey, choose from a variety of backstories, or even start with a completely fresh, custom origin.
Laps Games founder Onurhan Akçay explains that their new game, Valorborn, was built on the success of their previous title, Land of the Vikings. The positive response to Land of the Vikings allowed them to create a more expansive and detailed game world. With Valorborn, the team aimed to give players genuine freedom to forge their own adventures and create unique stories. They drew inspiration from games like Mount & Blade, Wartales, and Kenshi, as well as popular fantasy worlds such as Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings, to create a dangerous, immersive medieval fantasy experience filled with freedom, suspense, and endless possibilities.
Valorborn will be available on PC through Steam Early Access starting Wednesday, April 15th. The developers at Laps Games plan to continually update and improve the game based on player feedback, adding new content and features along the way.
