World of Horror Update 1.2 revealed, World of Horror The Board Game available to pre-order

Ysbryd Games and Panstasz have announced a new update for World of Horror, version 1.2. This update adds content that was previously either incomplete or removed from the game, making it approximately 20% larger.

This update includes a ton of new content: 3 new characters, 2 new Old Gods, 10 allies, plus new injuries, curses, and items. We’re also adding 60 new events and the first official scenario. Modding support has been improved, and pre-orders for the World of Horror: The Board Game are now open!

World of Horror is now released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam, GOG, and itch.io. You can find our review of the game here.

You can find details for the update, the board game, and new screenshots via Ysbryd Games below:

People are saying the vibrations you feel are from the subway line finally reopening after being closed since 1972. But a nagging feeling tells you the source of these unsettling sounds comes from far below the surface…

We didn’t pick version 1.2 randomly. Our main goal with this update was to add all the content we previously had to cut, and also to make the game about 20% larger. This includes a lot more to discover – 20% more events, mysteries, characters, and lore about the old gods, among other things.

A presence older than the subway system, and even older than the town of Shioakawa, is awakening far below the mountains.

Two new OLD GODS have joined the roster of the eldritch horror planning on destroying our world.

Despite hearing stories about people disappearing, you still chose to ride the subway. This faster commute has given you more time to get organized and make plans.

The game now has a simpler, more intuitive interface, letting players manage their game with fewer clicks and greater ease.

Despite the weird smell and uncomfortable chairs, you’ve seen old friends and new faces.

We’ve added 10 new allies—a 34% increase—and completely revamped how characters talk to each other. Conversations now happen randomly while you’re solving cases, making the game world feel more alive.

Besides the metro line reopening, SHIOKAWA now has a couple of new hiking trails in the nearby mountains.

60 new events (+32%) have been added to the game, including a brand new location: MOUNTAINS.

It’s important to be prepared for the mountains as it is easy to get injured or lost…

The game now features a significant update with around 20 new injuries, mutations, and curses, plus 19 new enemies and 30 new items – representing a roughly 19-23% increase in each category.

The weather in Shiokawa has become incredibly erratic, and strangely enough, the local weather forecasters have just disappeared. It seems they’ve likely resigned and left town because of it.

Unusual weather adds another challenge to solving the mysteries. If the weather reports are accurate, you can use them to schedule tackling the most difficult cases when conditions are better.

Luckily, you’re not alone in the fight to save your town… and the world.

The game now features three new playable characters, one of whom is Kiriko the Tarotist. Unlike traditional tarot readers, Kiriko’s cards don’t predict the future—they reveal what needs to be accomplished.

The game now features three new challenges—a 42% increase—including one called [YEARBOOK]. In [YEARBOOK], you investigate strange happenings in your town by collecting clues.

Okay, so the first big scenario just dropped in the game! It’s all about those three students who went missing in the woods, and it’s pretty cool because your choices actually matter – there are multiple endings. You’ll meet some helpful allies and definitely some enemies along the way. And get this – if you really explore, you can finally figure out what’s going on with the FOREST TAPES and even find a TELESCOPE! It’s a lot to unpack, but I’m excited to dive in.

The updated modding system will let creators design custom mysteries with unique maps and connected events, and it will still work with content made for the original game.

We’ve added 22 new achievements and a better achievement tracker to help you plan your next game.

…and other features await, like cloud saving, Steam achievements, and more.

We’ve started early testing of version 1.2 for PC, and we’re also working on translating the game into other languages and bringing it to consoles. Our goal is to make the game experience consistent across all platforms.

WORLD OF HORROR version 1.2 is coming to PC and consoles soon, and will be available in all currently supported languages. We’ll share more information about the release date closer to the time.

See you soon back in SHIOKAWA.

World of Horror Board Game

One more thing…

WORLD OF HORROR: The Board Game is now available for pre-order!

This survival RPG uses cards and lets you explore the coastal town of Shioakawa, solving mysteries while a terrifying threat called the DOOM Wheel rises. Throughout your journey, you’ll feel the constant presence of ancient, powerful beings.

Okay, so the standard WORLD OF HORROR board game box has absolutely everything you need to start investigating the weird stuff happening in Shioakawa. It’s got the DOOM Wheel, which is super important, plus all the tokens and dice to keep track of your health, stamina, luck, and money. There are tons of cards too – for your character, spells, different conditions, mystery events, locations you’ll explore, items you’ll find, allies you can team up with, and, of course, the terrifying Old Gods! Finally, it includes the boards that set the whole creepy scene for your investigations.

I’m so excited – the Deluxe Edition is available for pre-order for a limited time! It takes the base game to the next level, really bringing the world of SHIOKAWA to life on my tabletop. It comes with some awesome extra content, including…

  • A papercraft lighthouse dice tower to loom over the map of SHIOKAWA

  • The hardback “Book of Endings” illustrating all grisly fates for players

  • Three sew-on patches of WOH iconography to adorn your favorite bags or jackets with cursed drip

  • These are three unique detective stories created by leading horror game developers, including Hifumi Kono, the director behind the popular Clock Tower series.

  • This set includes five unique and collectible art print cards, known as “Mystery End” cards. Each card features hand-drawn illustrations by renowned artists from the Japanese horror genre, including Kago Shintaro, Kanafuro Taro, Cojima Miyako, Noroi Michiru, and -IZMA-.

The Deluxe Edition has additional limited variations such as:

  • The Limited Deluxe Edition, available in only 300 copies, features the Deluxe Edition’s box with a special NEO-80S color scheme.

  • Okay, so I managed to snag the Guro Edition – there are only 300 of these, which is pretty cool! It’s got this awesome NEON SLASHER design on the box, and even better, it comes with five bigger-than-normal prints of the “Mystery End” cards, and the artists actually signed them! Definitely a collector’s item for me.

You can now pre-order the Deluxe Edition of WORLD OF HORROR: The Board Game on the Lost In Cult website. Pre-orders are open until April 30th, 2026.

You can now pre-order the Standard Edition through Lost In Cult, and it won’t be limited in quantity! Like the Deluxe Edition, the Standard Edition is carefully crafted to deliver a complete and high-quality experience, whichever version you prefer.
