Nine Dot Studios recently shared a new gameplay video for Outward 2, giving viewers a look at both the game’s combat and how players will survive in the world.

In this video, Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, the creative director and founder of the studio, explains how the game handles things like fighting, collecting items, using magic, and gear.

You can watch the gameplay video, ‘What it takes to Survive in Outward 2’, below, with details provided by Nine Dot Studios.

Outward 2 will be available on PC (Steam) this summer through Early Access. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch the release date trailer from last year.

Nine Dots Studio recently revealed new gameplay footage of Outward 2 during IGN Fan Fest 2026, giving players a more detailed look at what to expect. The video highlights the immersive and realistic nature of the action-RPG, emphasizing the importance of planning and strategy. According to Nine Dots CEO Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, Outward 2 won’t simplify challenges for players; instead, it provides the tools and encourages them to overcome obstacles through intelligence and determination. Unlike many games that guide players step-by-step, Outward 2 rewards thoughtful preparation and skillful play.

Outward 2 expands on the popular RPG Outward, strengthening what made it unique: a realistic world where you’re not the center of attention, meaningful consequences for your actions, and the rewarding feeling of succeeding through smart preparation and flexibility. Players will again play as a regular adventurer, exploring both new and returning areas in the dangerous lands of Aurai. Every choice you make – even something as simple as what to carry or how fast you can drop your pack in a fight – can determine whether you win or lose.

What defines an adventure simulator? It’s all about making choices that truly matter. In Outward 2, even seemingly small decisions can have a big impact, more so than in many other RPGs. Players can choose to fight from a distance with guns and traps, favoring strategy over close combat. Or, they can explore magic, but that comes at a cost – sacrificing health for magical energy, and requiring practice to learn a complex system of spells and rituals. These are just a few examples of what makes Outward 2 a true adventure simulator, and there’s much more to discover.
