The new Shrouded Sky update for ARC Raiders arrived with a new questline, adding more depth to the game’s story and the challenges faced by the Raiders.
This quest takes you across several different locations, and it cleverly includes the recently added Controlled Access area on the Dam map. As you investigate, you’ll need to find secret spots and open locked doors, all while being monitored by the new ARC Units.
Here’s a guide to finishing the ‘A Rising Tide‘ quest and the great rewards you’ll earn by doing so.
Prerequisites

To start this quest, you must first finish “A Dead End,” another new quest that’s located in the Security Wing.
As a player, I’ve found I can sneak through the whole quest without alerting those pesky flying ARC enemies! But honestly, you’re almost guaranteed to run into some enemies on the ground, especially in the new Controlled Access zone. Just be prepared for a bit of a fight there!
Although you can technically start with basic equipment, I suggest bringing some good gear if possible. You’ll also have opportunities to find helpful items during your playthrough, and definitely make sure you have at least one Safe Pocket.
Quest Walkthrough
Buried City
Okay, so the first part of this quest starts in Buried City. If you look at the map, you’ll find the building you need just southwest of the Piazza Roma sign – it’s actually circled in the picture I’m looking at, so it’s pretty easy to spot!
The simplest way to get into this room is by using the zipline. You may have seen it running between the two buildings. If you jump from the zipline while it’s directly over the buildings, you’ll land on a small metal platform that provides access inside.
This is where you’ll find the console to use. You might also get lucky and discover a Gun Cache here. After completing this step, just leave the area and move on to the next part of the quest.
The Dam
First, make your way to the new Controlled Access zone on the map. You can enter from the west stairway, the east side, or by going through a hole in the roof.
Okay, so you’ll know you’re in the right spot when you find this really messy, flooded basement – it’s full of broken ARC units and stuff. From there, you need to hunt around for one of those portable battery cells; it’s just lying somewhere in the mess.
As a fan, I’ve been exploring everywhere to find these things, and so far I’ve had luck in a couple of spots. I found them hiding behind those yellow cylinders, and also tucked away in the corner of that big flooded room in the center. I’ve also heard from other players that they can sometimes appear in a room you reach about halfway up one of the vertical ziplines, so that’s another place to check!
If you search the area thoroughly, shining your flashlight on the ground, you should find it. Unless, of course, someone has already found it first.
Now, carry the battery upstairs to the small machine with the blue light. Put the battery in, and the doors across the way will open. Go up another level and walk across the metal platform to a room with a view of the flooded area below.

Inside this room, please photograph the whiteboard. Also, be sure to search the room for useful items. Once you’ve done that, you’re free to leave the secure area and exit whenever you’re ready.
Quest Rewards
The quest offers you the following rewards:
- 1× Anvil II
- 1× Anvil Splitter
- 1× Extended Barrel
- 40× Heavy Ammo
The Anvil splitter is a popular and highly-regarded modification for the Anvil weapon. When equipped, it divides each bullet fired into four separate pieces. While this can deal a bit more damage than a standard Anvil shot, it only happens if all four pieces successfully hit the target. It’s a specialized mod, but offers a unique experience and some extra flair for players who enjoy the Anvil.
