Shroud “convinced” Arc Raiders devs ‘don’t care’ about cheating crisis

Popular streamer Shroud believes the developers at Embark Studios aren’t taking the cheating problem in Arc Raiders seriously enough.

Arc Raiders, released on October 30, 2025, quickly became a massive success in the extraction shooter genre. It reached a peak of over 700,000 players at the same time and has sold more than 14 million copies, making a huge impact on the gaming world.

Look, things have been awesome with so many people playing, but it’s been frustrating too. We’ve seen a big jump in cheaters lately – people using hacks like wallhacks and aimbots. It’s really ruining the competitive scene and making it unfair for the rest of us who are just trying to have fun.

Shroud, a major fan of the game, is becoming increasingly upset with its current condition. He recently experienced several frustrating encounters with cheaters, leaving him wondering if the developers are even paying attention to the problem.

Shroud blasts Embark Studios for cheating problems in Arc Raiders

During a recent match, streamer shroud mentioned he had a bad feeling about other players. It turned out he was right – someone was cheating. This player quickly eliminated shroud and then began sending him abusive messages.

One of shroud’s teammates complained that the game’s anti-cheat system was terrible. Shroud agreed, saying the game was awful and expressing his belief that the developers didn’t seem to be addressing the issues.

Shroud playfully suggested the cheater might even be a developer at Embark Studios, but he was just joking around.

One teammate speculated that a major anti-cheat update was on the way. Shroud dismissed this, saying they were just making excuses and that no changes were actually happening.

He said this always happens when he watches streams. His teammates added that they’d encountered cheaters another six or seven times that day.

At first, players who cheated were easily getting around the game’s bans. They would just switch to a different account linked through Steam Family Sharing and keep playing unfairly. This loophole was finally closed on February 6, 2026.

The game now uses a three-strikes rule. If you break the rules multiple times, you’ll first be banned for 30 days, then 60 days, and after that, permanently.

It’s pretty wild how different this game is from others like the upcoming Marathon from Bungie. I just heard Bungie announced they’re taking a zero tolerance approach to cheating in Marathon. They said anyone caught will be permanently banned – no second chances at all! It’s cool to see them taking cheating so seriously, but it’s definitely a strong stance.

Following this announcement, Embark released its own statement on February 24th, which closely resembled Marathon’s response.

We’ve recently addressed several security issues and are continuing to strengthen our policies and how we enforce them, according to a recent post.

We’re now taking a tougher stance on rule violations. Major offenses will result in immediate, permanent bans. Other violations will lead to a temporary suspension and a single warning to correct the issue.

We’re constantly working to prevent cheating and ensure a fair gaming experience for everyone. It’s a continuous effort, and we’re fully dedicated to maintaining a level playing field.
