I Just Watched The Final Wicked: For Good Trailer, And I’m Worried It Spoils Some Big Plot Twists

Spoilers ahead for Wicked: For Good.

Though Jon M. Chu’s *Wicked* wasn’t an Oscar winner, the team behind it has a chance to earn that recognition with the upcoming sequel, *For Good*. Many fans, myself included, have already enjoyed rewatching the first movie through streaming services. Now, the final trailer for the second film is here, and it’s incredibly impressive. However, I’m concerned it reveals too much of the story for people who haven’t seen the original stage production.

How much you already know about the upcoming *Wicked* movie depends on how familiar you are with the musical. While composer Stephen Schwartz has added two new songs, the latest trailer reveals quite a bit about the plot, particularly regarding the characters of Madame Morrible, Nessa, and Boq. Here’s a closer look at what the trailer shows.

Michelle Yeoh, an Academy Award winner, plays a cunning Morrible, and a recent clip reveals her controlling the tornado that carries Dorothy’s house to Oz-and accidentally kills the Wicked Witch of the East. While her ability to influence the weather was suggested in the first film, this scene clearly shows newcomers that the Wizard’s ally will be the one responsible for the death of Elphaba’s sister.

Nessa is only briefly seen in the trailer, happily floating in the air using magic. This moment will differ from how it’s portrayed in the stage musical to ensure it’s inclusive and works better for actress Marissa Bode.

One detail that might reveal plot points is the appearance of the Tin Man from *The Wizard of Oz*. Fans could potentially deduce which currently unseen character will play him. Honestly, the movie’s promotion team probably shouldn’t have included him, even though I’ve been a *Wicked* enthusiast for a long time. Lastly, a brief scene shows Elphaba and Fiyero together, confirming their relationship in the film.

A quick online search can easily spoil the plot of the musical *Wicked*, especially what happens during the song *For Good*. However, many people who aren’t familiar with musical theater might not know what to expect. I’m curious to see if those viewers will pick up on the major plot twists that usually happen in the second half of the show.

TopMob gave the first *Wicked* movie a very enthusiastic review, and it will be interesting to see what other critics think. Because director Jon M. Chu and the cast filmed both *Wicked* movies at the same time, I’m confident the second one, *For Good*, will be equally good, or even better. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.

The movie *Wicked: For Good* is scheduled to come out in theaters on November 21st, 2025. This is likely the last trailer we’ll see, so don’t expect a lot of new scenes – and that’s probably a good thing, considering it might spoil the story.
